Plastic surgery

Women need to stop this insanity. How many famous, beautiful women have ruined their looks through plastic surgery? How many would look a million times better if they had just left well enough alone? The giant fake boobs, overdone botox, lip injections, chin and cheek implants. It's all just sickening.

You say that like men don't do it too.

Both sexes do it but it looks like men get into body modification. It's a free country BUT some of these people should get therapy before making these drastic changes. Fortunately, most people cannot afford these types of surgeries so they are out of reach for most people. Some of the people that get the extreme surgery make money on onlyfans or some other platform.

Ironically they always say that they want to look different and unique. But to me they all look the same. All of them have inked face, inked eyes, horns, lumps, split tongues. Pretty much the same set of modifications.

Both sexes do it. It's incredible what surgeons can do. Not a fan of it, especially the lip injections, but people have the right to modify themselves as they please.

... but it's fine if you don't notice it?

Lot of male actors get it done too - I noticed it particularly on the Hallmark movies that flood the schedule at Christmas.

To be fair, most people can't afford it. Among the female middle-class, you're lucky if you can even get one thing done, like a facelift, a single botox injection in the face, mole removal, a lip filler, or on rare occasions, a boob job. I remember one time mom got an estimate on a facelift, and the clinic she visited wanted to charge her $4,000 out of pocket! :O You can imagine why she didn't go through with the surgery.

You're more likely to run into middle-class people who got plastic surgery as part of something more practical, like reconstruction after a mastectomy, or botox injections for muscular problems, or having a surgeon stitch up the wound on your face so the scar will almost look invisible or way less noticeable.

Among the rich, it can get ridiculous, particularly in Hollywood. Some people even get addicted to it, because they are just not happy with how they look, and want to keep changing it. Even worse, some start running out of money and go to cheaper clinics that don't use as good of methods, and then the results look awful.

I wouldn't tar all plastic surgery with the same brush. Correcting problems people are born with via plastic surgery is wonderful work. But I do think that people who have their faces ruined by botched cosmetic plastic surgery should be able to sue the plastic surgeon for substantial financial damages.

I remember a news program in the late 80s talking about the difference between plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. They are separate entities in the medical community. Plastic surgeons are the surgeons that put somebody’s face back together after it goes through a windshield in an auto accident. I think there is an overlap with hand surgery because when I got a consultation by a hand surgeon at the hospital of the university I was attending at the time the department was “plastic and hand surgery”. Cosmetic surgery is a lower standard and they are the ones who do face lifts and boob jobs.
