If you kill someone out of self-defense how do you call police without incriminating yourself?

"Asking for a friend"

If it's a home intruder situation the circumstances should be pretty obvious to the law, but proof may be needed, you do hear bad stories about house owners fucking up a prowler and getting in a legal jam

You might want to consider a small cam system like The Ring, they alert you via your phone that someone is approaching and are not difficult to set up...
Proof to the law that you were in your PJ's when Mr. Room Temp jimmied the porch door and got carried out afterward

Or your friend could just pull the old Weekend At Bernie's move and nobody will even know the guy's dead👍

I saw a clip on YouTube of 911/999 calls where this happened. The handler is trying to find out what injury the victim has but the man refused to answer incase he incriminated himself. Just said he is bleeding, send an ambulance.

It was in England somewhere.

reply

Yeah, you certainly shouldn't say anything like 'I just shot a burglar in the kitchen...'
The laws are really bananas in certain States now

I've heard crazy stories about the homeowner getting sued for injury by the scumbag who broke in

Tell 911 a guy is really hurt, they need to send cops and Emergency Units and then clam up

The shitty thing for the drowsy homeowner who got awoken by an invader in the middle of the night is he's going to go bust missing work for court and or paying these vulture lawyers

I'm a fan of the idea that if a creep busts in on your family you mess him up real bad, like graveyard bad or walker for the rest of his life bad

Tax-Payers and property holders should be protected from frivolous nonsense cases

I agree! The law in Britain is that you can hit someone if they are being physical with you, but only enough for you to escape and get help. If you carry on beating them or stab them etc then you are the person commiting the crime.

To me, I think that if you break into someone's home then you should expect to get injured. With no come back on the occupier.

https://www.gov.uk/reasonable-force-against-intruders

You can use reasonable force to protect yourself or others if a crime is taking place inside your home.
This means you can:
protect yourself ‘in the heat of the moment’ - this includes using an object as a weapon
stop an intruder running off - for example by tackling them to the ground
There’s no specific definition of ‘reasonable force’ ...

Which sounds nice and simple - until people start arguing the definition of 'reasonable force'

Apply to become a police officer, rat yourself out then destroy every piece of evidence that could come back to you.

Sounds like an intense character role played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

A very Intothenight type of post!

Obviously you just bury them in the backyard and don't call the police. Although it will be hard to get the insurance company to cover the broken window or door without coming up with some type of scenario.

reply

In the UK we bury them under the patio - it's kind of a tradition :)

I thought it was BigBadWolf666 reincarnated.

Have your lawyer make the call.

The very best response and advice.

don't panic.

#1 Do not post on the internet about you having recently killed someone before calling the police.
#2 Call the police first, then call your lawyer.
#3 Do not leave the scene of the crime, say nothing until your lawyer can consult with you

Remember, the police need to prove guilt. You aren't guilty of anything except picking up a gun that was lying next to a dead body until the police prove otherwise.
