Monday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens, a little history; Return of the frustrating BOT!

The Balimore fans are going to want to crush Indianapolis, for swiping their team decades ago.

"The Baltimore Colts officially began their tenure in the NFL in 1953. The team played at Memorial Stadium. They established a reign of dominance under legendary coaches Don Shula and Ted Marchibroda. The team featured several Hall of Famers and Pro Bowlers, including Johnny Unitas, John Mackey, and Lenny Moore. The franchise’s rich history took a turn after the 1983 season.

According to The Baltimore Sun, Colts owner Robert Irsay moved the team to Indianapolis after previously denying rumors of relocation. The team left in the middle of the night, crushing the hearts of Baltimore sports fans. The Colts have been in Indianapolis for 38 years, but Baltimore hasn’t forgotten how they got there. Former Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell brought football back to Baltimore in 1996. Thus, the Ravens were born."

*************
About 15 or more times per home game, Balimore Colts fans would shout out "C-O-L-T-S...COLTS!) Not having to listen to that anymore may be the best reason for having them move to Indianapolis.

Before being moved to Balimore, the Cleveland Browns' loyal fans regularly sold out their home games in a 70,000 stadium by a frozen lake. But the greedy owner, Art Modell, demanded that Cleveland taxpayers give him a FREE new stadium. They refused, so he moved the team to Balimore, soaking Maryland taxpayers in the process.

Greedy owners of sports franchises should not get one penny from taxpayers for anything. If they want a new stadium, they can build it themselves, with their own money and credit.

Ravens win in Overtime 31-25 after coming back from a 22-3 second half deficit.

They did not get 100 yards rushing, so they remained tied with the Steelers for the consecutive 100-yard rushing games record.

Good on the Colts for preventing that - I thought that was BS what Ravens did last week.

The thing I hate about this is that all the Ravens' historical statistics are cut off before 1996, as if the RAVENS were the expansion team. And the Browns statistics treat 1996 to 1998 like the team was on vacation.

Plus I hate that stupid elf on the Brown's gear now. Apparently it's a throwback.

It's a Scottish mythological fairy-like creature called a "brownie" (get it? Really creative, aren't they?).

FYI- Most people in Baltimore, and Ravens fans, no longer have ties to the Colts. Generations have passed and the Ravens have won 2 Super Bowls. The Ravens have one of the best front offices in football and multiple Hall of Famers since 1995.

Cleveland, btw, got to keep their team colors and history when the Browns moved (almost unheard of in sports) and was promised another franchise almost immeadiatly (Baltimore had to wait 13 years).

Cleveland then immeadiatly built a new taxpayer funded stadium for the new Browns, proving they should have kept the original team all along.

The Ravens then built a 241-185 record (.763) and the Browns 101–234–1 (.302).

But, yeah, blame Art Modell....
