Part 3's that are better than part 2, but not part 1.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
Red Dragon (2002)
A Nightmare on Elm St. 3 (1987)
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)

reply

The Exorcist III (1990)
Back to the Future Part III (1990)

reply

To be fair, almost every movie is better than The Exorcist II.

reply

Exorcist 3 is an easy one! First was a classic, second a compolete mess, and the third was a pretty solid horror.

Agree with both those.

reply

Those you mentioned plus...

Mission Impossible 3 (2006)

Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) - I'm not sure about this one. Might be better than the first one. Never rewatched the first one

Transformers: Dark side of the moon (2011)

Men in Black 3 (2012)

Ocean's 13 (2007)

John Wick Chapter 3 (2019)

Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) - I saw this film an unhealthy amount of times babysitting my lil sister like a decade ago. All 3 of them actually...

Skyfall (2012) - I'm counting Daniel Craig's Bond era as separate cause his films are connected to each other.

reply

I haven't seen any Ice Age's or Tokyo Drift, but I agree with the others.

12 Rounds 3: Lockdown (2015)
The Marine 3: Homefront (2013)
Men in Black 3 (2012)
Iron Man 3 (2013)

reply

They made more than one of The Marine & 12 Rounds? Huh, well, I was today years old when I learned of this information.

reply

Haven't you been following AdamWilson's topic? Keep up, man.

reply

Sorry, but who's that?

reply

A moviechat legend who has been here less than a week. He suffers from Angry Leg Pain which causes Frustrating Vague Events.

reply

Haha, that was great.

I was 'off' last week. All the awesome stuff always happens when I'm away. Either from School, work or here.

reply

Part 3 causes frustrating leg pain.

reply

Part 3 to The Marine is news to me.

reply

Escape from the Planet of the Apes (3)
better than
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (2)
but not better than
Planet of the Apes (1)

reply

I might be in the minority but I prefer Friday the 13th Part 3 to Part 2. I like Part 2 but Jason looked so small compared to later films. Plus you had the goofy moments where he falls over and the goofy scene of him getting kicked in the groin. Part 3 had him looking bigger plus it is the one where he gets the iconic hockey mask.

reply

Honestly, 2-7 are all the same to me.

reply

I like Aliens 3 more than 2.

reply

You don't have to step on a landmine like this. That was something that didn't need to be shared.

reply

It's a personal preference. I'm not saying 2 sucked. Far from it.
A2 is very action packed (James Cameron's specialty). I liked the quieter, thoughtful approach of 3, more in the vibe of the original Alien. It's more horror, than sci-fi action.
I put it out there to see if anyone else feels the same.
There will always be plenty of movies I'm supposed to like and don't. And films I'm supposed to dislike but like.
Frustrating events.

reply

I had Leg Pain watching the 4th film.

reply

I think 3 is inferior to 2 but I do like it more than most people. But Part 3 will always be hated for killing off Newt and Hicks. I don't think anybody but the studio wanted that.

reply

Ah yes, I've heard complaints about that.

reply

Same. I liked A3 for all the reasons you gave. I just don't think it's better than A2 but then again I'm sucker for Alien movies. So I liked them all.

reply

Sacrilege! (you are entitled to your opinion of course)

Have you seen the assembly cut? I like that version better than the theatrical, but still not close to Aliens

reply

I know!

I believe I've only seen the theatrical. I'll be on the lookout for assembly cut.

reply

It's longer, but they took out some of the better moments. They spend more time on Paul McGann's character. It's one of the better characters and best performances in that movie. They also cut out a subplot involving that character that gives us maybe its most dramatic moment, second to the ending.

Fincher has pointed out that its not a director's cut, but it's closer to what the director wanted than the theatrical. I think they used a rough cut Fincher put together as their guide. Anyway, it's better than the theatrical version in most people's opinion.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Highlander III: The Sorcerer

reply

I hate the Indiana Jones franchise, but The Last Crusade was the only one I thought was good. I don't like the others at all.

reply

Yet another reason to never chat with you again😤

reply

I complete you.

reply

He's like the capuchin monkey from Raiders, you want to hate him but can't help but love him!

reply

Don't tell him I agree with this, samoanjoes is simply impossible but goshdarnit, hes's just so charming

reply

Temple of doom is my favourite, so I of course disagree.

reply

It's a very close call for me, all three are almost perfect, Raiders is my fave.

reply

Yeah I love all three too.

reply

totally agree with
Red Dragon (2002)

Hannibal was just a sh*it show

reply

I actually think it's an underrated movie.

reply

if anything it's largely overrated

reply

I dug Hannibal too. I think the movie improved on the novel's ending. Rare for Hollywood to make changes that actually improve something. It's maybe closer to being horror than a thriller, really. We also get to see more of Lector in this one than we did in SOTL. That's not a criticism of SOTL, but seeing Lector in action really provided some hair raising moments.

I'd go 8/10 for Hannibal, 10/10 for SOTL. 7/10 for Red Dragon.
