are you a speed reader?

I took a speed reading class in college. All semester we would do timed readings and then afterwards test for comprehension. By the end of the semester we were reading more and testing better.

I'm a speed reader. Authors like to pad their writing, or don't know how to edit themselves. I read what's important on the page, and skip over the rest.

I hate when someone tells me to read something and they wait for me to finish reading it so we can talk about it afterward and they go, "you're still reading it?" I didn't know that by asking me to read something it meant that I have entered a speed reading contest.

I remember in HS one of the english classes taught a bit of speed reading and I recall being in the 400ish wpm.

Pretty sure I don't skim across the page that fast anymore.
