How many have you seen?

reply

about 10

reply

I've seen 16.

reply

19 for me.

reply

looks like that's my total too. i thought i had seen the canterbury tales, but letterboxd says that's not the case. i might watch it tomorrow. le grande bouffe was added to mubi a few days ago, so i might catch that soon as well.

reply

I thought it strange that the Canterbury Tales was on the list but Salo wasn't. I would have thought Salo had an NC-17

reply

nobody in the ratings board could probably sit through it.

it is a weird omission. i don't know how things like this work for rating older films - the nc17 rating didn't exist until 1990 or so if i remember correctly. maybe older films only get rated if they are given theatrical re-releases.

I do think it's hilarious that This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) originally got an NC-17 but it was released without a rating.

Casino even states in the description on that page that it is in fact Rated R. LOL.

reply

A lot of them were just released as unrated.

reply

"Showgirls" surprised me on the list

reply

I can agree with that.

reply

Why? When it was released in theaters it was a big deal as the only wide release of an NC-17 movie. The first time I saw it was the R rated version on VHS. It did earn the NC-17 though.

FOR ELIZABETH BERKLEY'S VAGINA ALONE.🤔

reply

The abundance of nudity, sex and sexual dialogue, and the very graphic rape scene.

reply

WELL YEAH...ITS PACKED WITH SLEAZE.

reply

I've only seen eight of the 84 listed. They are ...
Casino
Kids
Showgirls
Killer Joe
Last Tango In Paris
The Story of O
Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
Pink Flamingos

reply

A Dirty Shame is really funny if anyone here has never seen it.
