Help identifying this show (solved)

It had to be a 90s show. My parents watched a lot of ER and NYPD Blue, so it might be one of those. A kid shot his friend for a pair of boots or shoes. I think initially he was just treated as a witness but then it was revealed he was the one who did it, for the boots or something. What show? What episode? I've been trying to figure this out for a long time.

IM FAIRLY CERTAIN IT WAS ER...I DONT REMEMBER SPECIFICS THOUGH...I DO REMEMBER A FAMILY MATTERS WITH A SIMILAR SETUP THOUGH.

I vaguely recall seeing a TV episode with that same premise as well, and it very well might have been ER. I don't think it was the one that Tarantino directed, but it might have been one of those ones with a special guest actor or director.

I am strongly leaning toward ER, but I can't be sure until I identify the episode.
