For me, Freaks And Geeks.

Honorable Mention: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

For me , its Firefly by a country mile
I'd inhumanely sacrifice other sci fi serieses to get more Firefly.
Too late now though.

Anyone else remember Q.E.D. (1982)? It starred Sam Waterston as Quentin E. Deverill, a science professor who gets entangled in crime fighting against some nefarious characters. It was set in 1912 and was what might be called steampunk today. A fun show but it only lasted six episodes. I'm guessing that the period setting killed it; the production costs must have been huge with the need for Edwardian era clothes, furniture, cars, et cetera -- one episode even featured an auto race.

Kolchak, the Night Stalker

Almost fifty years later and fan base is strong as ever.

reply

I forgot about that one. Very good show.

reply

Yeah, Kolchak was great. Even my brother (who isn't a sci-fi/fantasy fan by any means) talked up the show when we got together this Christmas.

reply

Firefly for sure

Police Squad
Forever
Powerless
Constantine (the 1st episode sunk it)
Alcatraz
Rake (American version)
The Tick
Lights Out with David Spade

reply

I'm still dirty about Forever.

reply

Nice to see another fan of The Tick (2001). The 2016 version wasn't bad, but as much as I like Serafinowicz, Warburton was absolutely made for that role. Another lesser known comedy of his I love to mention around here is The Dish (2000).

The Prisoner (1967)!

reply

This has been on my list for years, but have never had a chance to see it. Would be great if Netflix was able to acquire older series like this.

Thanks!

reply

You're quite welcome. And thank you for getting me to look that up; I was unaware of that last program on the list, "The Prisoner: Behind The Scenes." Should be interesting!

It's on tubitv...

Appreciate the link.

The Honeymooners. Even though it was a hit Jackie Gleason only wanted to do one season (39 episodes).

I should mention though that there had been several revivals.

reply

This amazes me. The Honeymooners looms so large in pop culture that I had assumed it had run for years. Definitely a case of quality over quantity.

reply

American Gothic, the 1 with Gary Cole as Sheriff Lucas Buck.

reply

Totally forgot about American Gothic. That show was wicked good.

reply

CBS not only kept preempting the show and moving it around on the schedule, they ran the episodes out of order. Go to the American Gothic topic I created to see the correct order of episodes.

The show was awesome. CBS did everything but drive a stake through its heart. “Someone’s at the door.”
