Death Wish (1974) vs Dirty Harry (1971)
which is better?

This one is impossible lol
Death Wish was an expression of urban frustration with lawlessness, the inability of big city cop departments like the NYPD to deal with endless waves of junk on the streets and a legal system so overburdened it was letting rapists and muggers out through a revolving door
The result? We heartily rooted for a guy that blasted the animals...there was a lot to think about with this movie
Dirty Harry was a seasoned Inspector who damn well knew the law, he just ignored it in his quest to stop a Zodiac Killer-type lunatic from hurting anyone else...again we applauded
I think both are excellent thrillers that portray the difficult balancing act we do in upholding a nation of laws but also wanting violent freaks off the street, one way or another
I'm wimping out here and calling 'em a draw for me
You sum it all up perfectly. But I give it to DH for a better script.
shareThanks and that's understandable
The Harry sequels were way better than the Death Wish ones for sure
That too.
Makes me want to rewatch them all now.
Yeah!
Magnum Force and The Enforcer were especially good
I agree with all you’ve said there. If I could only have one in my collection it would easily be Dirty Harry (1971), but if I were allowed two, the other would be Death Wish 3 (1985). Paul Kersey going to war against the gangs with his belt fed .30 cal and his band of geriatric friends has a special place in my heart. 😀
shareOk, that WAS a pretty good one😁
shareDIRTY HARRY SEQUELS BETTER THAN DEATHWISH 3:THE CRACKDOWN???...YOURE FUCKING INSANE BRO.
shareDirty Harry but Death Wish is very good too.
shareBoth are good, but I think Death Wish seems more dated to me.
shareI think of Dirty Harry as a classic, Death Wish not so much
shareDirty Harry (1971) is masterpiece
share"Dirty Harry" by a mile.
