Genre's and themes that don't seem to get many good films made around them?

King Arthur/Knights in general. Excalibur from 1981 is still the benchmark.

Robin Hood. Errol Flynn is still best version.

Anything else?

I guess more innocent films that don't involve adult themes like sex and what not?

reply

Nah, Men in Tights is the best Robin Hood movie.

School movies. There aren't enough good movies which show actual struggle of what kids go through. Most of them are comedies and even the dramatic films come off unrealistic. The best depiction I can think of is Eighth Grade.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Excalibur. I don’t think that tale will ever be topped.

Western's for the most part are now usually rather low quality and budget.
