Sequels you wanted to see

Here’s a list of a few I’d of love to have seen a year or so after the original, but not now.

Cobra – Marion "Cobra" Cobretti had an iconic look with his Ray-Ban 3030 sunglasses and his Submachine Gun, another cinematic outing perhaps in the early 90’s would have been welcome.

Commando - John Matrix really was a man of his word it turns out, by turning down an offer to return to his Special Forces Unit at the very end of the movie! I’d have loved to have seen Arnold return to this role for another Ramboesque action adventure rather than churn out those unfunny comedies he did in the early 90’s.

Leon– A grown up Mathilda out for revenge and using the skills taught to her by Leon would have made an excellent sequel.

Reservoir Dogs – This would rely heavily on flashbacks showing the heist we never saw from the first movie, perhaps it could interweave with Pulp Fiction by showing the relationship of the Vega Brothers too.

Trading Places – More of a spin-off than sequel, I always wanted to watch a movie centred on the dastardly Dukes after their cameo in Coming to America!

What sequels would you have like to have seen that never got made?

reply

Odd Thomas. I really liked the books

John Dies at the End - It could have been fun to see This Movie is Full of Spiders.

reply

I LOVE John Dies at the End and have read all of Wong's books except for Zoey Punches the Future in the Dick. I didn't like Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits though. This Movie is Full of Spiders is a great idea!

reply

The nice guys
Terminator Dark fate
The predator
Dude where's my car
Pineapple express
Superbad
Phone booth
Speed (3)

reply

Seriously Dude, Where's My Car? What a great title, a shame it never got made!

reply

I still hold out hope.

reply

"The Predator" ... are you trolling?

reply

Nah, I liked it.

reply

I've always wanted a sequel to Phone Booth. Kiefer Sutherland's character needs to have his comeuppance!!

reply

I don't know if I agree. But have you seen liberty stands still.?

reply

GREAT LIST...THE NICE GUYS WAS MY FAVORITE FILM OF THAT YEAR...DARK FATE IS AWESOME...ASSHOLES CAN BITE ME...I VERY MUCH ENJOYED THE PREDATOR TOO....DUDE WHERES MY CAR IS FUNNY AS ALL HELL AS IS SUPERBAD...PHONE BOOTH AND SPEED ARE BOTH TOP NOTCH THRILLERS...AND PINEAPPLE EXPRESS IS TOP TEN FILMS ALL TME FOR ME...I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALL THOSE SEQUELS.

reply

Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy 3".

Apparently he wanted to make it, but could never find funding, and now that there's been an inferior remake I have to assume he's given up.

reply

Napoleon Dynamite. The movie was made for a sequel and now they are too old. It’s a damn shame.

reply

I still stand by this one.

reply

Thing is, its hard for lightning to hit twice. That movie is a classic. A beautiful absurdist surreal singularity.

reply

Buckaroo Bonzai
Galaxy Quest
Man from Uncle
Serenity
Dredd
Idiocracy
True Lies

reply

A Galaxy Quest TV series would have been fun!

reply

It would be impossible to keep up the perfection of the Galaxy Quest movie and would have besmirched its memory.

When you make something that’s perfect, leave it alone.

Remember the Ferris Bueller TV show?

reply

The Galaxy Quest sequel might happen. The rumours have been picking up steam lately.

reply

It just won't be the same without Alan Rickman.

reply

Sad reminder.

reply

And sexy Sigourney Weaver.

It's a shame about Serenity. The box office numbers weren't stellar, but those and the DVD sales showed that there was definitely an audience willing to show up. I'd imagine had it hit a few years later, that there would have been sufficient momentum to move forward with a series of scaled-down cable movies or possibly a revival on a Netflix-type platform. With the cast and crew having gone on to work on different projects, that's a farfetched possibility now.

Oh, and about Dredd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZrsJsvL30g

reply

Executives damning the series right away via scheduling and then the strike right when the movie came out. Too much bad luck. Now I don't really want it anymore.

What happened to the two year old rumor of a Dredd tv show?

reply

Serenity was the Last Hurrah for Firefly. It pretty much died the same way as Stargate. They had plans to continue the series by way of movies, but those days are long gone.

Saturday the 14th

The Day After the Day After Tomorrow

RocknRolla. Guy Ritchie said he had the entire trilogy written but it doesn't look like we're getting any of them.

reply

I would LOVE to see Fincher do The Girl who Played With Fire and The Girl who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. I've read the excellent books and I've seen (and own) the Swedish trilogy and they are very good but Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is better IMHO. It follows the book a bit better. Also the Swedish ones were a mini-series so they're lower budget and don't have Fincher's flair.

Please?
