The last thread that I can see that was deleted was a political thread, however, the header at the top of the page clearly states: -
General Discussion: Talk about anything here...except politics.
This is the correct board: -
https://moviechat.org/bd0000082/Politics
So what if it was about politics? General discussion seems dead. It should be revived. Politics should be allowed. It will result in lots of activity which means money for jim as more users come.
shareWhat you wanna let those crazy bastards from the politics board in here? are you nuts?
I think you'd be in a huge minority if there was a vote
Would it be too much trouble for you to go over there for your politics?
its not a lot of extra clicks is it?
But it will show activity on the main which means it will attract more users here, which means it may turn into an imdb messageboard replacement.
will it? I assumed users would arrive here from a google search which could land them anywhere on the site , i dont see it makes any difference.
So if they come here from google search results. They see threads here posted with a large time difference between each post. They'll think the site is dead.
shareYou can only assume they'll look at the front page once theyve looked at wherever thay landedwhere they will see all the films recently posted on , and this: (but with post counts)
General Discussion
Talk about anything here...except politics.
Latest Posts
A round-up of the latest posts from all around the site.
Politics
All political discussion goes here.
And that right there accounts for all the posts. You couldnt get a clearer picture.
the "latest posts" bit will presumably do what you want and show you everthing in a big pile.
Ok maybe you're right. What do you think of jim adding a database to this site? Maybe turn it into another imdb ?
sharewell , i just make do the link to imdb for each film if i want to go see a review of what people are talking about . no point duplicating the imdb really.
It'd be nice if imdb put a link to the relevent mc page , but i cant see that happening.
i meant if jim wanted to compete with imdb means more money for him.
shareToo late , IMDB has cemented its place as *the* defacto movie database since the 90s.
thats not gonna change
I guess you're right. Some businesses fail eventually though.
10 Once-Dominant Businesses that Ended Up Declaring Bankruptcy
Kodak. We're barely into 2012 and a major company has already filed for bankruptcy. ...
Enron. ...
Blockbuster. ...
Schwinn Bicycle Company. ...
General Motors. ...
Marvel Entertainment. ...
Hugo Boss. ...
Atkins Nutritionals.
Marvel is bankrupt?! oh happy day.
I suspect that "Marvel Entertainment" is only one head of the multi-headed superhero spewing shitstorm Hydra that is Marvel.
i have no clue. marvel seems to be profiting a bit too much. i would rather see dc entertainment movies make 2 billion each released. dc fan here.
shareAgreed.
shareThem's the rules - comply, get banned or leave - up to you.
sharePolitics were banned from the general discussion board for a reason, because political threads create a toxic and acrimonious environment that ruins the board for everyone. Lots of users, myself included, complained about the effect that political threads were having here at the time, until the site responded by redirecting politics to the politics board, a good change. If you want to talk politics, go do it on the politics board, that's what it's there for.
And general discussion isn't dead at all, I don't know where you're getting that from. It looks pretty active to me.
Thank you for the past history of GD. I had no clue. Sorry about this thread.
shareNuff said.
shareIf you look at trending you'll see it's not as slow as you might think.
If you want to talk politics then I don't see the problem with going to the politics board. If no one is arguing there right now.... just wait.
Some people don't care about arguing and debating every detail of life.. as if life isn't more complex than that. Politics should be separate.
"If you look at trending you'll see it's not as slow as you might think."
OH my bad. Thanks. I should bookmark the main page.
