Besides that, the premise is wrong. The decline of the US has been consistent since the 70s, because of the changes made by Kennedy and (mostly) Johnson, both Democrats, that opened the gates to massive immigration and multiculturality, leading to the unavoidable associated decline. Since then, Clinton has been probably the best president (and he was a Democrat too) but he was basically a good manager. He could alleviate the symptoms of the American Decline for a while, but he didn't stop it.
That's not true! Americans never seem overly satisfied with any of their presidents. Almost since I can remember the majority have incessantly complained about every one. The only one I can't recall hearing Americans complain about was Ronald Reagan. However I was just a young kid back then.
sharePeople cheered when Reagan was shot. He tried to attack social security and medicare. When seniors complained, he replied they need to take better care of themselves. I consider his Alzheimer's to be karma. A Federal tax cut for the rich was passed to states and municipalities which created layoffs and closings. Federal taxes were eventually raised called the sin tax (alcohol, cigarettes). He also pretended to be pro-family even though his family was dysfunctional.

1. Republican policies help the rich which hurts the economy and makes everyone else poorer. It breaks the economy and throws us into a recession.
2. Republican Presidents tend to be very stupid, lazy and/or mentally compromised. Bush 2 and Trump are stupid. Reagan became senile in his second term. Trump and Nixon are mentally compromised aka: nuts. Bush 1, Bush 2 and Trump are lazy.
