shareI've always leaned towards the infrasound theory. Whatever happened, something caused them to panic to the point where they cut a hole in their tent and fled, leaving their gear and clothing behind.
shareThe findings of the report are in the article and I think it makes the most sense of all the offered explanations. The group was not very experienced and panicked because of a snow slide blocking the entrance of the tent.
shareActually they were all very experienced with hiking in the cold weather, which is what makes this so strange. They abandoned all common sense and left their tent in a blind panic. The book "Dead Mountain" goes into pretty good detail about the incident.

The FBI was still looking for the guy up until 2016. They weren't convinced of anything.
