Movies where you cheer for the bad guys.

I don't mean because their performances were so good. I'm talking about movies where you cheer for the people doing criminal activities.

Ocean's Eleven
The Godfather
Inception

The Star Wars prequels.

I adore Palpatine! He's my favorite character! I wish he were the star of the whole shebang, and not those stupid kids!

reply

That's just heartless. Cheering for Palpatine is worse than cheering for Darth.

reply

Shut up, you just dont appreciate a great villain when you see one!

Vader is just a thug in a cool costume, but my dear Palpy is brilliant and charismatic and funny and campy and in on ALL the jokes and outwite the heroes every single time! He's just delicious to watch.

reply

I've always felt that Palapatine is the brains of the whole operation and Darth was just following his orders. I'd rather be stuck in a room being interrogated by Darth than Palpatine.

reply

If you think about it, you realize that Vader is... really, really stupid! But so powerful and brutal that it takes a while to realize there's no brains under the helmet.

My brilliant Palpatine, in the end he was taken down by the combined stupidity of two real dolts.

I would never be in league with a contract killer, but I was semi rooting for the Jackal in

'The Day of the Jackal' (1973)

reply

The anti-hero has had a meteoric rise. Perhaps it's because we're eating too many tomatos these days?

(That was a joke! I think. Not all jokes are funny. Don't worry about it.)

One example that I particularly enjoy is Memento, because of the main character's memory loss, much of the movie is figuring out just how evil everyone is.

reply

Especially Carrie Ann Moss' character.

The iceberg or Cal?

reply

I wanted Billy Zane to kick his ass and throw him off the ship.

reply

Same! Billy Zane go off.

reply

I saw Billy Zane at Texas Frightmare two years ago and I wanted to tell him that so bad but the line to talk to him was too long.

reply

Damn, that's a shame. I can understand why the line was so long. Lots of people waiting to use salacious Titanic euphemisms on him, I'm guessing.

reply

Basically every slasher or serial killer movie. I'm watching them to see the murders, duh.

reply

Dial m for murder. I wanted him to get away with it!

Escape from Alcatraz

Good choice.
