What sub-genres do you like?

This sub-genre barely exists,
but I dig movies that blend war with sci-fi.

I recently bought a movie called
"Flight: World War 2" (2015) for this reason.
After all, who doesn't like movies like
The Philadelphia Experiment? I know I do.

Not to be confused with movies where
we're at war with aliens (Battle Los Angeles, etc.)

reply

Sci-fi war movie but without aliens... hmm... I can't think of one. Interesting.

reply

Ah, I got one... Planet of the Apes.

reply

I guess I mean specifically sci-fi with WW2, since sci-fi has never been blended with any other war. You know da wae.

reply

Sci-fi WW2 without aliens. That's even more specific. Do you have any other movies that fall into this genre?

reply

Currently,
the 2 movies I mentioned are the only ones I know of. It is what it is.

reply

Comedy / Horror is my favourite. I appreciate the juxtaposition of laughing at something that is actually gross and terrible.

Some of my favourites:

Seed of Chucky (2004)
Creepshow (1982)
What We Do In The Shadows (2014)
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Evil Dead II (1987)
Bad Taste (1987)
100 Bloody Acres (2012)
Grabbers (2012)
Re-Animator (1985)

reply

While I actually don't think Creepshow was intended that way, the campiness definitely makes it lol-worthy.

reply

Nice lineup. Cool to see some Seed of Chucky love. It's one of my favorite of the Child's Play sequels.

reply

I didn't mind ' Pride and Prejudice and Zombies '. They could have done better with it admittedly but I thought the concept showed some promise.

reply

A lot of horror sub-genres. Zombies, vampires, werewolves, demonic/satanic, science fiction horror.

reply

Horror musical like Anna and the Apocalypse, Repo! the Genetic Opera, or Rocky Horror.

reply

Have you seen The Happiness of the Katakuris (2001)? Unhinged Takashi Miike musical horror-comedy. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0304262/

reply

I have not. It is now on my list. Thanks!

reply

My favorite sub-genre is Catholic mythologies. I grew up in Catholic schools so they are part of my chilhood. I like all movies about them, more than any Greek myths or Ancient Egypt. Whether it was a horror or action movie I enjoy them all.

Constantine
The Rite
The Da Vinci Code
The Minion
End of Days
Priest
Silence
Stigmata
etc.
