Favorite shows by decade

What are your favorite shows of the decades? Not necessarily the best, but just one of your favorites. Yes, some span two decades, but put it wherever you want. I'll start with the 1950s.

1950s I Love Lucy
1960s The Dick Van Dyke Show
1970s The Bob Newhart Show
1980s St Elsewhere
1990s ER
2000s The Street
2010s Unforgotten

Hard to pick, I know.

reply

Pre-1980's: Dr. Who
1980's: Knight Rider
1990's: The Outer Limits
Post-1990's: N/A

reply

I had a hard time with post-90s because I haven't had traditional over-the-air or cable TV for more than ten years, but then I remembered the British shows I watched via streaming. I'm actually watching The Street now, halfway through series two. Intense, and well done, I think.

reply

Same here, I haven't had cable since 2008. In any case, I can re-watch Outer Limits infinitely. They're just that good, imho.

reply

That and Twilight Zone are shows I should revisit. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

reply

1960's - Star Trek
1970's - Fawlty Towers
1980's - Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister
1990's - Agatha Christie's Poirot
2000's - Battlestar Galactica ( it was patchy but when it was good it was great )
2010's - Game of Thrones ( awful shame about season 8 )

reply

Mine would be almost identical, so I’ll have to mix mine up a bit.

reply

I've seen a few episodes of Fawlty Towers, but that's all from your list.

reply

1950's - Abbott and Costello
1960's - Bonanza
1970's - M*A*S*H
1980's - Moonlighting
1990's - Star Trek: The Next Generation
2000's - Bones
2010's - Law & Order SVU

reply

Since choosing Doctor Who for each decade would be boring, my second choices are

60s The Twlight Zone
70s Monkey
80s Prisoner
90s The X-Files
00s Outrageous Fortune
10s Bates Motel

reply

I only know about the early 90s.

90s
Tales from the crypt and dream on

Very fun combo for a young man.

reply

OMG! I loooooove Monkeeeeeeeey!

reply

I've seen plenty of Twilight Zone episodes, but that's about it from your list.

reply

70s - Dad's Army
80s - Hill Street Blues/Only Fools & Horses
90s - NYPD Blue/The Sopranos/Oz
2000s - Saxondale/Alan Partridge
2010s - Generation Kill/Chernobyl

reply

I'm a fan of Hill Street Blues. I have yet to watch Dad's Army but it's on my list.

reply

50's - Father Know's Best
60's - The Fugitive
70's - Dallas
80's - Cheers
90's - The Practice
00's - Dexter
10's - Mad Men

reply

Good picks. We watched The Fugitive, and Dallas, too. I became disenchanted with Dallas, though. I got tired of JR's antics, and then there was the "it was all a dream" thing.

reply

I could fill each decade with David Attenborough documentaries but shall restrict it to one...

70s: Fawlty Towers/Life on Earth
80s: The Wonder Years
90s: Northern Exposure/Frasier
00s: Mad Men/The IT Crowd
10s: Game of Thrones -- I really don't watch much TV these days. I'm sure this could be knocked off easily if I actually bothered to watch something.

reply

I enjoyed The Wonder Years. I also enjoy documentaries of all kinds.

reply

1970s Doctor Who
1980s V or perhaps The Golden Girls, I don't know
1990s Friends
2000s Battlestar Galactica
2010s Konosuba or Hinamatsuri, hard to decide, both are amazing

reply

It's hard to pick just one. Especially for an entire decade.
