Favorite shows by decade

What are your favorite shows of the decades? Not necessarily the best, but just one of your favorites. Yes, some span two decades, but put it wherever you want. I'll start with the 1950s.

1950s I Love Lucy
1960s The Dick Van Dyke Show
1970s The Bob Newhart Show
1980s St Elsewhere
1990s ER
2000s The Street
2010s Unforgotten

Hard to pick, I know.

1960’s The Brady Bunch
1970’s Sanford and Son
1980’s In the Heat of the Night
1990’s Silk Stalkings
2000’s Breaking Bad
2010’s The Office

reply

I'm a bit surprised that it took so long for someone to mention The Office. Okay, maybe someone else mentioned it and I missed it - I've been away for a couple of days.

This is the first I've ever heard the name Silk Stalkings! Gotta investigate. 📝👀

This is really tough. I can barely narrow it down to two or three per decade:

1950’s Gumby / Abbott & Costello
1960’s The Prisoner / The Twilight Zone / Doctor Who / Dark Shadows
1970’s The Muppet Show / Monty Python's Flying Circus
1980’s Pee-Wee's Playhouse / Tales From the Darkside
1990’s Twin Peaks / Seinfeld / Ren & Stimpy
2000’s Curb Your Enthusiasm
2010’s Twin Peaks: The Return

reply

It is tough. And a favorite will vary depending on what age one is during a particular decade. Also, looking back at what you actually watched is different than choosing a favorite show from a certain decade. I loved Whirlybirds, which ran in the late 50s, but we didn't watch it until sometime in the 60s, and by then I was a huge Dick Van Dyke fan, so...

Pee Wee’s Playhouse? Yaaa! I’m sure I’ve seen them all because my kids loved it too. The highlight for me has always been when the salesman comes knocking. Lol

You must really like the Big Adventure.

reply

The kids know what's up! Pee-Wee is one of my favorite things ever, I'm definitely obsessed. Every few years I have to bust out Playhouse and do a marathon. (Usually right around the corner from a dive back into Gumby. The two go together like PB&J.) And Big Adventure is up there on my dossier of all time favorite flicks. The Large Marge freakout scene is a heavy contender for movie moment that altered the course of destiny for me. : >
