How long have you been streaming?

All my friends have been streaming since the mid-2010's.

I think I agree with what atomicgirl said. Progress is progress, and eventually it's for the worse.

Which is why I don't stream. There's nothing wrong with doing it the "old fashioned" way, and always popping your movie in.

Obviously, they'll eventually stop making DVD players, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I have been streaming for about 9 years I think. I still buy movies though. If it's something that I want to own, I buy a physical copy of it, as we don't really own anything digital.

I think the biggest issue I have with streaming is there's just too much. Many people admit that, due to such a wide selection, they often can't even pick one. Often times, they're just browsing, with no end in sight.

I agree. There is way too much out there to stream.

It's why I didn't renew my subscription to Tidal.

It's why I subscribe to Netflix in a very on-and-off fashion. Mostly off.

Amazon Prime I have stuck with. But that is more than just movies.

I joined Netflix in October of 2014 and I think that is when I started streaming.

Do you still buy flicks? Or did you give up on DVD's, and pawn the ones you had?

reply

I still buy movies. Today, I bought 5 blu rays, a dvd, and a dvd box set.

I've been streaming at least 5 years
It's an amazing convenience and frees up space where I used to store a lot of dvds and so on

I love all the new phones and tech, to each their own

2016 we first got Netflix.

I’ve been streaming for as long as it was first introduced. Ironically, I’ve only had Netflix for two days.

I started streaming in 2010..I remember precisely because we had just moved and I had began bingeing all these series and films.

One thing several people mentioned is that there was just "too much out there" and that it's hard to make a choice..That's very true. One can spend hours browsing, that's for sure.

But another thing I'd noticed as the early 2000's had worn on was that the movie rentals I was getting had started to fail exciting me as they always had. For years I'd been able to rent 3 films and almost always be satisfied with my picks. But somehow that had flipped and I was having trouble finding even one of them that I could honestly say I enjoyed. That was happening more and more.

So I guess I might need a lot of choices.

I went "discless" 6 years ago, when I moved, mostly to save space, I live in a small apartment. Sold my CDs and DVDs and now either stream or purchase a download. If it's music only available on a CD I'll rip it to my computer then either discard it (if it cost under $15) or sell/give it away. If it's a movie only available on DVD...well I haven't run into that problem yet.
