Cats or dogs? Which would you rather have?

I have 6 cats in my house right now lol. I do want to get a dog though. It would also have be a useful dog, such as a deterrent like you pointed out. If I'm going to have pets, then they have to contribute in some way. All of my cats pounce on anything small that moves.

I love animals in general and have always had dogs...I had 4 primarily over a period of over a decade that eventually all left me one by one. I miss them.
In the meantime my mother passed away and left me her cat and then I rescued an orphaned kitten...
so now I have 2 cats.

Cats are more affectionate then I previously had believed. At least mine are.
They love being in my lap more than I like them being there. And the 17 year old cat that was my mothers is pretty smart and follows me around like a dog and responds to commands as good as some dogs do. He's cool but mostly only with me.

The only problem with cats is litter boxes and the fact that the one that I rescued can be spiteful if I'm inattentive and can jump anywhere it likes and knock things off or sometimes jump between me and my computer screen.

I do love cats but when I guess less busy I will have another dog. I'll get one from a shelter.

Dogs are winners.
