Somebody Stop Me!

Guys... Help!

Somebody stop me from spending the day writing a treatment for a Labyrinth-esque movie starring King Diamond... I do NOT have the time to be starting up with this shit... So why is this what's 90% about to go down...

Must... kill... the brain!!!!!!!

all i'll say is that i support your obsession with king diamond.

someone should find a home for him in a movie. he'd be a natural, i bet.

I really think so! His music is so performative he's already an actor to my mind, he's all about over the top escapism, he can do tons of voices, and has a naturally cool speaking voice and magnetic, smooth aura... His looks in the 80s were already halfway there to Jareth the Goblin King. I think it would be so much fun to see him in a surreal, 80s throwback, practical effects fantasy setting.

For comparison...

He even has throne sitting experience! Not to mention cape wearing and villainous perching experience! https://bit.ly/2Sd62OT

I mean! I want this to happen super bad tbh.

I had to google him

i got my first exposure to king diamond back in the mid-80s when i bought a super-cheap compilation that had a pair of mercyful fate tracks on it. i'll never forget hearing that voice for the first time, for better or worse.

i have a few king diamond albums kicking around here. it's not something i listen to a lot, but it scratches the itch nicely when i'm in the mood for something like that.

Beautiful!

Love Mercyful Fate, and I can almost think of no album more front to back purely entertaining and totally ripping than Abigail or 'Them'. There's not a dull moment. Not only that, I think there's a real deeply unique artistic vision there. Anytime I break either one out I am IN for the whole duration, and YES I AM singing along with every word and air guitaring all the solos. 😎🤘

ha, i had to go pull out my records to remind myself exactly which king diamond albums i owed.

abigail is one of them. that's the one i fancy the most. it's a classic of that style for sure.

fatal portrait is the other...it's been so long i can barely remember a thing about it, but recall not loving it half as much.

i admire your devotion!

Fatal Portrait is like picking up the scraps of the disband of MF. I go back and forth on Abigail and this one as being his masterpiece: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL94gOvpr5yt1ycxPFHWa2jNRzNRBrNJXG

Somehow this is only fueling the flame hownos! A lighter held to the gasoline of nostalgia, and I feel so affirmed! Aaah!

I thought this was gonna be a mask discussion

reply

Haha I thought the same thing and read the subject line in Jim Carrey's voice!
