I think The Irishman has overtaken Goodfellas as my favorite Scorsese movie

Obviously it is not nearly as tightly edited or scripted but it is more impactful to me at the moment. This may fade with time. I have watched it over 10 times.

reply

You have got to be kidding me. It's not close.

I said at the moment. He’s had 30 years to improve upon some of the stylistic elements and tricks. Like I said I acknowledge that Goodfellas is the better made film but keep in mind I’ve watched it over 30 times. It’s not fresh.

reply

Understood. Did you like Taxi Driver?

reply

You know I still have not watched that or Mean Streets? I know, terrible. I have seen Raging Bull though and that is probably his most technically well made film.

reply

In other words, once you've seen it 30 times, you'll change your mind. This is practically a confession.

reply

I can’t say, hasn’t happened with King Kong. Goodfellas is also 30 years old.

reply

YOU WATCHED THE IRISHMAN 10 TIMES?...WOW...THERE MUST BE A MEDAL OR SOMETHING FOR THAT.

reply

I've watched it 3.

reply

I WATCHED IT ONCE...THEN I TOOK A NAP.

reply

It has a slow pace.

reply

This is very troublesome for most people.

reply

I knew you liked it more than you were letting on!

reply

I liked it but Goodfellas is my all-time favorite.

reply

Yeah I think it is mine too

reply

Personally I don't think either is among Scorsese's best work, but I do prefer The Irishman of the two.

reply

What is, Raging Bull?

reply

"Are you fucking my wife?"

reply

Lol so that’s where Anderson got it for Boogie Nights

reply

I don't think so but the whole Little Bill story was great.

reply

Idk he admitted the ending in the dressing room was straight up lifted from Raging Bull

reply

That makes more sense.

reply

Yeah and obv the flashbulbs, freeze frames and whip pans are Casino.

reply

Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ. I also have a soft spot for The Departed, perhaps his easiest film to just sit back and enjoy (he himself said that it was the first movie he had made with a plot!)

reply

it's not that good.

reply

Sure it is

reply

I want to watch it but I cant get past the de-ageing crap.
