absolutely second this. not birdwatching specifically, but getting out in nature, in green areas, appreciating the world around us.
not to sound like some kumbaya-ish hippie, but there is a great perspective that comes from watching even the smallest creatures. stop and watch ants for a while, appreciate their remarkable societies & their incredible abilities. i think it instills an almost spiritual awe in the world we share, & an understanding of just how small & unimportant you really are. that may sound deflating, but i don't think it is. there's something very liberating & freeing that comes from a recognition that you are absolutely, utterly trivial & that whatever indignities you might have suffered any given day, they are completely inconsequential & forgettable.
spending more time with ants & reading about ants & thinking about ants is very good therapy, i believe.
