Pedro Almodovar has never had a poorly received film for over 25 years

It's quite amazing how he releases film after film that has been acclaimed by critics and audiences without a single dud for almost 3 decades now. What is your favourite pedro film that came out within the last 2 decades?

reply

Sorry, I am not familiar with his movies.

reply

Dont reply then

reply

not the way it works here buddy.

reply

Fine. You are wasting time though

reply

Maybe post a few of his movies.

reply

You got Google.

reply

find someone more obscure next time.

Touche, howie!

😎

reply

he is a bit sensitive.

reply

Yes, he also seems a bit high strung.

reply

Kinda bossy there, fork!

reply

He has had a lot of good ones, but not so sure about the premise. If you look here he has at least 13 rated under 6.

I would probably rate Talk to Her as his best.

reply

I was clearly referring to the last 25 years, not his whole career. He has not had a single critical dud since the early 90's.

I'm So Excited wasn't well-received.

Julieta was poorly received by me, although generally it was well-enough liked.

reply

Films that he executive produced only don't count

reply

He wrote and directed both of those I mentioned.

reply

He did not. Underrated masterpiece but he only produced it.

I'm referring to I'm so excited. I only saw it under the producer section. Not director or writer.

reply

His movies are totally not my cup of tea.

reply

"I'm So Excited" is a 5.6 and a 48% on RottenTomatoes. "Kika" is also. 6.6 and 57% on RottenTomatoes. That on is just outside the 25 year limit.

reply

1. I said since the 90's. Not his whole career.
2. Pedro only produced I'm so excited. Underrated masterpiece by the way

reply

Nope. He wrote and directed it.

reply

He only produced it. He was scheduled to have directed it but left before filming.

reply

Nope. Written and directed by him. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_So_Excited_(film)

reply

Anyone can edit wikipedia pages. He only produced it. Not directed it

reply

The other poster gave you an IMDb link which you claimed was broken, now you're denying what it says on Wikipedia. You're delusional. Try these.

reply

The first link shows someone else directing it and the second felt like a poor photoshop.

reply

I think you need to call your dealer back because he laced his product with something that's making you not think right.

reply

The first link is clearly showing that the director was Pedro Almodóvar.

And the IMDb link is not broken.

reply

Then he hired someone with the same name as director, which must have been awfully confusing on set.

reply

Link is broken

reply

i've watched a 1/2 dozen or so almodovar films, many of them recently since the criterion channel was featuring him for a spell. honestly, i was a bit underwhelmed by several of them, & flat out hated tie me up tie me down.

but i left the best for last in that i caught the skin i live in & talk to her most recently, & i thought both of those were absolutely terrific.

reply

he is good not great, there isnt one movie of his that is a certified masterpiece...........

reply

Exactly. I haven't given anything he's done over an 8.

reply

me too

reply

I had never heard of him either, so I googled him. Haven't seen any of his films.

😎

reply

Don't reply then.

reply

Why not?

😎

reply

Because he might find someone more obscure next time.

reply

But couldn't that potentially be fun? Maybe we could discover a diamond in the rough.

😎

reply

Meh, probably the link is broken anyway.

reply

The grapes are probably sour?
