shareNot that anyone considers him an incredible thespian, but relative to his success, Dwayne Johnson basically plays the same character (himself, with the volume turned up) in every movie. Yeah, he's an action star, but Arnold, Sly and even JCVD showed for more range in the 80s.
shareI agree. Johnson is a good guy and has decent charisma, but he wouldn’t have been huge during the time of Arnold and Stallone. Even Arnold had a much wider range, doing goofy high-concept comedies like Kindergarten Cop and Junior to violent R-rated shoot ‘em up’s like Commando and Predator. Johnson pretty much just plays the same bland PG-13 action character over and over again.
