⚡️❄️ Thunder-snow

We've got thunder-snow here! Not unheard of, but it's rare to have lightning and thunder during a snowstorm. Tells you how strong this storm system is. We also have 40-50 mph winds with sleet mixed in.

reply

Where?

reply

I'm in central MN.

reply

Kansas

reply

I've seen that only once, you'd think the ancient gods are returning and they're wrathful!!!

Hunker down Glenny😙

reply

It's nasty out there. Had to take Bailey out to do her business. She didn't seem to mind the wind-driven sleet but I didn't like it. The last time I noticed that the snow is quite dirty-looking. Apparently the wind is leaving some areas empty of snow so it picks up dirt and blows it around. Not pretty.

reply

Yuck all around
Tell Bailey she's going to have to hold it in for awhile!

reply

I was wrong about the dirty snow. I just learned from the news that the dirt is imported from Texas! The storm system brought it from there. Weird.

reply

Woah!
How are you faring Glen?

reply

Thor is teaming up with the Frost Giants!

reply

Teach Bailey the 'pee pee' dance😉
There's no way to go back out there

reply

I wish she would learn that, or something that lets us know when she really needs to go out. I go by the clock mostly.

reply

Wow, snow with lightning and thunder! Never heard of such a thing. Ugh, high winds and sleet thrown into the bargain too 😟

I hope this is over with soon.

One of my friends/neighbours had to fly to Chicago for a few days. She's there now. She said the forecast right now is it'll be clearing up soon.

reply

It's weird, but kinda cool, too. If the winds would die down it wouldn't be so bad. We're in a doughnut hole for the snow/sleet right now. More snow expected tonight overnight. How much we get depends on the back end of the storm. Keeping my fingers crossed that the worst of it misses us. 🤞

reply

I'd like to see snow with lightning, just wouldn't want to be there in it.

Just checked the weather for MN. Supposed to be 37 now, 41 tomorrow, and by Sunday 47 with some sunshine.

reply

The warming trend coming up - close to 60 by Tuesday here - is the only thing that makes this bearable. This time of year you know the show won't last long. By the way, it has been snowing all day today. Light stuff, but it feels like Mother Nature is spitting in our face. Or laughing at us. 🤨

reply

we get that here in the Spring also

reply

I haven't seen thunder-snow since El Niño of '97 while living in the Midwest. The weather during those 2.5 years was very bizarre.

reply

What happens if a lightning strike hits the snow? Does the entire sheet of snow become electrified?

reply

A new superhero franchise is born

reply

Marvel has probably read and stolen the idea as we speak.

reply

I'd watch it

reply

Me too. Maybe they give this thread an honorable mention in the credits.

reply

Forget that
We should punch up a script
Get a few points on the Box and merch!

reply

I'm certain we could write a better script than the hollywood makers, but i'm not sure we could do it as quick XD

reply

It's probably already in pre-production:/
There go our yachts!

reply

With Gal Gadot in the main role as "Freeze Lightning".

reply

I would have cast GlenEllyn...cape, cute mask, huge boots of course, she shoots ice from her fingers

Bailey is a superdog who can blast lightening from her eyes and never needs to need walking in storms

Would G-Lightening and Zap have been a good title?
I think so👍

reply

Sounds like a kids film a bit :-D Nothing wrong with that of course.

reply

So we sell the script to Pixar, instant Mega Millions

reply

We could, in both cases the rights goes to Disney in the end though :-P

reply

Frosty the ThunderSnowman.

reply

Love it :-D

reply

I imagine it's really not much different than when it strikes wet ground in a rainstorm. But what do I know??

reply

Yeah. Probably not. Reality is usually disappointing.

reply

Finally had Spring here with around 70 - went for a nice walk. Cold and wet tomorrow.

reply

It's raining here.

reply

We had rain a couple of days ago - a good rain that washed away the last of the snow and some of the road salt. It's probably time to hit the car wash again.

reply

My husband washes our car. He does a good job.

reply

During the warmer months I do it myself, but I haven't dragged the garden hose out yet.
