Question for the men on here

Do you do anything different while shaving your face?

Some guys use those old-fashioned straight razors, or otherwise shave in ways that differ from the norm.

What about you? What's your shaving routine like?

reply

I'm not very good looking so I don't do anything fancy
Dollar Shave Club has been a good deal for me...they send razors and assorted things every so often and they are decent enough for this mug

reply

Wah?! You told me you looked like the mad Irishman from Braveheart!

reply

Spitting image
Neither of us look so great...ugly Irish pugs the both of us lol

reply

I use Gillette tripe edge but my face is sensitive. So after shaving I use baby powder or talc to cool things down. Been doing it for years. I never shave in the morning because I can't go to work with baby powder on my face.

I only shave once a year, in the summer when it's too damn hot. I took regular scissors and took to my hair and beard while leaning over my porch so the hair got in the grass.

reply

I use a small battery-powered shaver. Very practical, no need for any cream or soap.

Shave once or twice a week under a hot shower, rinse with cold water and apply a mildly scented alcohol-free aftershave. I've been using a sharpening block on my quad razor as well, so I've only gone through two cartridges in the last three years.

reply

I shave every second or third day with a disposable razor. A pack lasts me almost a year.

I have a very light beard and only shave every other day, sometimes I'll go two w/o shaving. Can go longer if I'm not going anywhere. Unlike what I see on TV, I don't bother to shave in front of a mirror. I take a shower, put some bar soap on my face and scrap the hair off with a cheap double edge plastic razor that lasts for months. Pretty low maintenance.

Currently use a disposable triple-blade razor on neck, cheeks & flanking soul-patch area. Before that, I’d been using brush, mug and safety razor. Tried a sampler pack of different blades and found 7 AM Platinum to suit my medium beard & slightly tender face. If you’ve got a tough face & beard, the ‘Sharp, high-chromium Durablade’ may be better. If your face & beard are more delicate, try the ‘Shark super chrome blades’

Also use an Alum block after a cold rinse to slam the pores shut & tighten the skin. This also stops tiny leaks. Larger leaks may need styptic pencil. If you need a tourniquet, you’re pretty much screwed.
