What are you listening to?
I'm listening Kurt Vile. Man he's amazing!

The Breakup Song at the moment...good song, they dont write 'em like that anymore!
It'll be something else in two minutes...my cd player is busted so im at the mercy of the local rock/pop stations
That sucks, I never listen to radio, the stations here play the same songs all day long. You dont use Spotify?
shareOne of my CD players is on the fritz and I actually pulled out some cassettes from decades ago.
The sound isn't all that great, but the music is still there, and I'm pretty picky about what I keep, so it's actually a really deep collection, approx 300 separate recordings. Those are a lot of choices !
Thats alot of cassettes! I never really got into cassettes and I'm kinda glad they're gone, lol. i have a around few hundred cd's but those are pretty much just dusting away in the shelf because spotify is so much easier. No messing around with the cd player.
But speaking of Kurt Vile check this out, one of my favourites from him:

Pink Floyd
'Money'
'73 was a good year, i was born then so take that to the bank!
Blues Power on KLCC. Carl Stolz at the Controls. 100% locally programmed, then another 2 hours of local programming, but a little more on the Americana side.
shareI'm still on Kurt Vile. Going through his discography.
shareHe was profiled on NPR recently. I don't remember much about it but before it was aired, I heard the promos and I thought they were doing the composer Kurt Weill, known for working with Berthold Brecht and co-writing the song "Mack the Knife." I'm sure Mr "Vile" took his name from the elder Kurt, and hopefully knows his work.
shareIt's actually his real name. I listened to a podcast yesterday where he was a guest and they talked about his name. I dont remember the details of the discussion but maybe his parents named him after the composer. Who knows.
shareYou are absolutely correct about his name. Man, I was sure he was goofing on Kurt Weill. Some might even pronounce Weill as "Vile," attempting to capture the German sound. And Weill is pretty well known in some music circles, so I figured it HAD to be an homage. (And Vile sounds like something a hard-core type might want to adopt.)
Maybe someday I'll try to get into him. His wiki makes him sound rather accomplished.
It's only an earworm I'm listening to in my head, but for some reason, I have "The Heart of Rock & Roll" playing:

Thanks a lot! Now I've got it! 😉
shareI always liked how he said the heart of rock & roll is the "beating," like when the riot police show up to shut down that filthy devil music and arrest everyone after some good baton pummeling!
It's even better if you replace "beatin" with "beat-down."
Motorpsycho The Tower
share"Tosich'onyo sijibwayo". It's surprisingly catchy.
"Sijibwayo, sijibwayo!"
I listen to KPFA in the SF Bay Area. They are playing their Saturday jazz program.
