What series is as good or better than Ray Donovan? Please dont insert spoilers of any type about the show

I am looking for new series to watch now that I have completely absorbed the Ray series and am looking for a new one to feed my addiction for lead characters with massive character flaws that make you feel sorry for them, admire them and hope they will get the help they need. And also feeling disappointed in them when they do things that are socially wrong...

Input?

The only one I can think of is NYPD Blue. Some of the main characters have flaws, but then don't we all? It's a great show.

I don't watch Ray Donovan but based on your description, Dexter?

Really good show!

I'll have to check out Ray Donovan, thanks.

If you like or can at least tolerate scifi, check out 'The Expanse', streaming on Amazon prime.
Captain & crew of the Rocinante go forth to 'tilt at windmills' so to speak. Pretty much all of the major characters are flawed and acknowledge their flaws.

One character in particular had a pretty rough past, the results being that he's terrifyingly effective & resilient in a fight, but has a moral compass that's almost completely inop; it's just good enough for him to recognize people who try to do the right thing and he attaches himself to them for a kind of 'prosthetic conscious'.

If you’re looking for magnetic but flawed protagonists;

The Cinemax series, Banshee, on Comcast on demand and other streaming services. The violence is more intense than Ray Donovan. Realistic, BRUTAL fighting. Believe it or not, a really fresh and original
series. You’ll be glued to a binge fest after Episode 3; maybe sooner.

Sons of Anarchy, on streaming services. Just the first 5 seasons; it degrades pretty badly in seasons 6 and 7. By the same token, if you decide to watch Dexter, I’d advise that you bail after Season 4.

If you’re not averse to the occult, the 90s CBS series, American Gothic, starring Gary Cole as Sherrif Lucas Buck—“That’s ‘Buck,’ with a ‘B.’”—also known as The Devil. You may be able to find it on streaming. I have the complete DVD boxed set. Are you ready for this: CBS RAN THE EPISODES IN THE WRONG SEQUENCE, and didn’t run some of the episodes at all! If you find a way to watch it, you’ll want to watch it in the right sequence (duh?!). Go to Amazon and read the customer reviews of the boxed set. Some of the reviews enumerate the correct order for the one-season series that The Tiffany Network murdered in its crib.

Enjoy.
