I'm a big John Wayne fan and I'll watch any movie he's in but I think this could be the watershed of his decline.
It's a basic rewriting of Western history to suit Wayne's perspective and just about all of it is excrutiatingly bad, especially the soundtrack and songs.
I'd like to have watched it back in the day when I used to take acid!
Shame on you Ben Johnson !

Having thought about it for a minute that's a great idea. Bass and overdubs would take it to another level. I'd do it myself if I knew how.

The Shootist was good.

Shootist was great, with a young Ron Howard.
I believe Wayne, the actor, knew he was dying at the time so a very poignant performance.
Maybe The Shootist with a Chisum remixed sound track ? !

I always get this movie and Big Jake confused. I like the latter one.
