Your Hallowe’en Music Playlist?

What are you going to be spinning for All Hallows’ Eve? You do know that it’s the US’s second most popular holiday (in terms of money that we spend on it, which is a pretty solid indication of its importance to us), right? So what’s on your soundtrack? Mine includes:

•Season of the Witch - Donovan
•Rhiannon - Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac
•Don’t Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
•Sympathy For the Devil - The Rolling Stones
•The March of the Black Queen - Queen
•The Ride of the Valkyrie - Richard Wagner
•Night on Bald Mountain - Modest Mussorgsky
•Tubular Bells - Michael Oldfield
• Gallows Pole - Led Zeppelin

Anyone who knows John Lee Hooker is okay in my book! Thank you.

May I ask, are you British? Brits love the blues.

Nope, just an American whitegirl with a whole lotta soul.

I've seen your posts on several sites where you brag about "putting people in their place", and "if that makes me a bitch, so be it", etc. Yeah, we're all impressed. You sound rather insecure (and young) if you need to announce it.

reply

Why are you stalking my life you weird little twerp? I’ve posted 2 places, here and the twin peaks board like a year ago. You’re just some boring little internet personality that has absolutely nothing to say. Just trying to keep it lively amongst a sea of boring little cunts like yourself. Get fucked.

reply

Menstruation Now cries when I come around😂 I'll hook ya up with some tissues if he starts crying for you😉👍

reply

Thanks bubba, appreciate you. Maybe when he’s done crying someone can point him in the direction of a cheap hooker. He clearly needs laid and I’m guessing not much luck in that department.

Nice. One of my favorite ween songs.

reply

Big Weener from way back here. Pure Guava is an essential album imo.

reply

Same and I agree 100%. I’ve seen them live a couple times, they put on a great show, fantastic energy.

reply

Yass, I've seen them live a few times too! They were shockingly polished live in their late era and as always way better musicians than one might imagine. Though my favorite Ween will always be the Ween that's too fucked up from huffing Scotchgard to function, a la The Pod, which is probably my fave album of theirs. 👍

I will be spinning the sultry sounds of spooky movies recorded on vhs in the 90s, barely heard above the din of cnc machines this s'ween eve. So business as usual for me.

Here are a few vlassic halloween albums no one has mentioned yet though:

Heard a sweeping performance of "The Night on Bald Mountain" recently at a college symphony concert. Easily the best piece of the night. So many tone shifts to emotionally lift the inner human spirit amidst chaos and upheaval.

Although nowhere considered high art, Wolfman Jack always plays a cool musical rift. His howl cracks a smile.

reply

I remember Wolfman Jack, a truly charismatic DJ. Used to drift off to sleep at night with his program on low volume on the radio. No telling what type of content entered my open subconscious mind during those nights (winking).

reply

Saw full a moon on each of those nights. (^ ^)

There’s a great line in The Howling, when Karen White and her husband are in their cabin at Doc’s retreat camp, and Karen hears howling at night, and it scares her. She thinks that it sounds dangerous. Her husband says, “It’s probably a dog.” She replies, “I don’t think dogs sound like that.” He replies, “You’re from L.A.! The wildest thing you’ve ever heard is Wolfman Jack!” Lot of good lines in that movie. Please never even think of trying to remake it. I don’t think that John
Sayles is still writing scripts.

Too funny! On Svengoolie the other night, the show's host, Sven, did a comedic skit on Ancestry DNA, dubbed "Hairology." In it, a voiceover claims he thought he was related to the title character in the Werewolf of London (1935), Henry Hull. To his dismay, he discovered he was closely related to, you guessed it, Wolfman Jack, "Ah-Woo!"

reply

You just reminded me of another one for the playlist:

Werewolves of London - Warrren Zevon

“I saw a werewolf drinking a Pina Colada at Trader Vick’s—and his hair was PERFECT!”

reply

I'd think 'Roland' & 'Exitable Boy' would both be macabre enough to add.

A couple more, different artists, but sadly underrepresented...
