Your favorite snack watching tv or a movie?

Totally unoriginal but mine is popcorn, even home made at home (as in I cook it on the stove with kernels, not the microwave variety.)

In cinema I like to sneak in sweet and salty popcorn and some chocolate.

What about yourself?

reply

Well-marinated green martini olives.

reply

I buy the olives that are jarred in dry vermouth.

reply

I like twizlers and skittles

reply

Shelled nuts. Either peanuts or pistachios.

reply

Back when my drinking was more limited, I liked chocolate-covered raisins (Raisinets?).
Nowadays I prefer salty, original Pringles or maybe Planters Heat Peanuts.
But mostly (and seriously) I'm not concerned about noshing during a movie. I want to give it my full attention, and especially if I am in a public place, no one needs to hear my candy box noises, my incessant chewing, or god forbid, smell my awful chili dog while I'm trying to concentrate on a movie. I didn't grow up needing snacks to watch a movie.

reply

Right now I'm just knocking back Heinekens. No snacks tonight lol.

reply

Good on you. Personally, I think Heineken tastes like skunk, but that's just me. Enjoy your evening. Sincerely, snepts.

reply

I'm wondering if they changed their recipe because its not skunky anymore? Definitely more hoppy than your average Lager, but not skunky.

reply

Maybe so. Because of Marketing and the perceived shortage of "good beer" back in the day, H was supposed to be top of the line. I only needed to smell a freshly opened H to think, yuck ! I did drink a few back then, and always wondered what sort of person finds this palatable? But I drink the sort of beer most people think is rank, so who am I to say?
Yesterday I saw a young, pretty woman of color lugging a six-pack of Hamms around a grocery store (with her white male companion), and I so much wanted to compliment her on her choice of beers. I felt much less alone.

reply

Wow, I didn't even though they still sold Hamms. My go to beer is Narragansett Lager which has had a resurgence in popularity lately. Cheaper than Bud and light years ahead in quality.

reply

I live in an area that is having a Craft / Small Brewery wave -- and I mean a Very Big Wave -- and I've never heard of Narragansett Lager. Did recently have a Montucky Cold Snack. I appreciate what they are trying to do (Beer With A Cause), but it didn't taste very good, to me any way.

reply

Have you ever seen Jaws? Narragansett was the beer Quint slammed in the scene on his boat.

Just looked up Montucky Cold Snack - only 4% ABV!

reply

Hamms is less than that, but it's cheaper and has more flavor, at least to me.

Have you ever heard of Hurricane? This is something really low-rent alkies drink, but it's amazing the way it's packaged. You have to buy three 24 oz cans that are 8% alcohol for around $6 around here. Gauranteed buzz. But it's so low-budget even I won't go there. I have my own concoctions that I imagine elevate me above "those" types = different delivery system, same result.

reply

Never heard of it, but it sounds similar to Naddy Daddy. Where I live in New England, you don't really see a lot of those old time beers around anymore.

I'm sure you've heard of Old Style beer in Chicago. The Chicago Cubs are replacing it with Budweiser at Wrigley Field. Horrible decision!

reply

Oh yeah. Old Style signs were all over Chicago when I lived there.
I remember back then when we would buy an 18 pack of Stroh's for the price of twelve.
We'd buy anything, the cheaper the better, but fortunately (or perhaps "un"), Malt Liquors weren't well-known at the time, so we stuck to the low octane, high volume stuff.

But as far as Wrigley goes, I guess Bud gave them an offer they couldn't refuse.
With all these breweries owned by some Holland outfit or whatever, I'm not sure if there's a point in being loyal to a brand, but Old Style is indeed old style.

reply

My favorite?
Probably some caramel ice cream or gummi worms, sour please.
I love p corn too though.

reply

Yes! Sour gummies !!

reply

Isn't eating icecream during a movie too distracting, though?

reply

Nah, doesn't bother me. I can always bump it back a few if I miss something, I do that all the time anyway.

reply

Oh no, I hate rewinding a movie. Takes me right out of it. I guess icecream is not the right movie snack for me!😉

reply

Haha, probably not!
I would bug the shit outta you if we watched a movie together.

reply

Oh darn, and I wanted to invite you to watch St. Elmo's Fire together!

reply

I've never seen it and I love 80s movies :)
We totally can but I'm gonna rewind it a few times if I miss anything lol

reply

As long as you replay the scene of Rob Lowe playing the sax a few times I've got no problem with that!

reply

Haha, deal!

reply

Oooh you know what ?

reply

What?

reply

Popcorn

reply

Popcorn with a little Mongolian Fire Oil sprinkled on top.

reply

Funny scene in one of my favorite movies, Ghost World.
Young smart-ass girl winces while putting more-and-more theater butter on someone's bucket o' popcorn.
Your welcome for the petroleum based heart attack inducing whatever she says, haha.

reply

I'm going with popcorn as well.

reply

You can't go past some excessively salty popcorn

reply

Nachos for me.

reply

NICE choice.
