Yo.
What makes you feel good and why does it? :)
shareHaving control makes me feel good. Having no control makes me feel nauseous and/or anxious.
Maybe it stems from my fear of death. Death is the only sure thing that will happen to me (or to everybody else for that matter) but I can't control when and how.
sitting/standing outside in the rain, with a cup of joe and ck. because i'm outside, in my favorite type of weather with my favorite person. cup of joe could be anything honestly. rum and dr.pepper, water, etc.
shareOh, same old, same old. Walking in nature with my dog, and utter *bliss* if I have a SO I feel connected with there too.
Has to be near water. A stream, creek, river, or a pond or lake would do. Lots of trees, lots of green.
Why? Because that's when I feel most at peace, most connected and at one with everything and everyone.
Good thread!
charlie and i have the most beautiful spot close to our house. its amazing. all we need is the dog!
thanks! i appreciate you answering :D
What does it look like? Is there water? Yes, you and Charlie need a dog!
You're welcome. Thanks for this thread!
Its a huge creek under a bridge. charlie took my daughter and I on a adventure there once. It was magical honestly. Tiny little waterfalls in some spots, the most beautiful place Catbookss. I'm always happy but being there makes me feel at home. At peace with life and myself. Haha, I don't know if we will ever have one again, at least not while we live in this apartment. I'd want any future dog(s) to have all the room to run and go wild. Be a sweet boy if you will. :)
shareOh god, that sounds like my kind of place! 👍Very cool that you, your daughter, and Charlie can hang out and have adventures there. Especially great that it's nearby!
I'm with ya, it's hard having a dog in an apartment. But it sounds to me like you're the kind of person who'd love having a dog, so I hope you 3 are about to find a place with lots of room for your daughter, your future pooch, and you too to run around wild and free 🤗
Same for me. That's where I feel most at home, at peace with myself, life, and everyone. It's a beautiful feeling. Nothing better.
Oh its awesome. :)
Haha, I do miss having a dog! I'd love several, just a small little herd of sweet wild boys chasing women and coming home to grub and sleep. Maybe we will one of these days! Thanks for the well wishes, made me smile. :)
Sun - I love the colours it makes the world.
Snow - Always feels great walking in a winter wonderland.
Going out on my mtb - I love the freedom.
Christmas - It's Christmas.
totally right about the snow. I wish I saw more of it but I always remember the sound it makes when you walk on it.
I've never lived where it snowed, but can imagine how wonderful it can be.
One wish I have is to be somewhere where it snows, near a creek or stream, full moon, bundled up cozy, going for a moon lit walk, with my pup and a SO. It must be breathtakingly beautiful.
When you've been hot and sweaty after a day at work then you get in the shower get clean and put fresh pyjamas on!
I love that feeling too! The feeling of that water, talk about pleasure.
shareI'll go one further. After putting on those fresh pajamas, I love to get into bed, having just changed the sheets and pillowcases. There is nothing nicer than fresh crisp bedding, especially after having been dried out on a line.
shareI am a big fan of eating food and drinking water. It makes me feel good because I need it to survive and even if I don't need it, it satisfies my wants.
shareSolid answer here Pete. What do you like to eat the most?
shareOne of the things I like most is something I can't have: cheese. I discovered I had been tolerating what is probably a milk allergy or sensitivity, and I gave all dairy up. I miss cheese the most. There are pretty good milk and ice cream substitutes, but cheese substitutes are not as amazing as real cheese. It'll do, but man do I miss some real sharp cheddar. I feel amazing compared to the way I always felt before though. I used to have wicked back pains and it's all gone now. The thing I like to eat most that I am allowed is hummus. I eat so much roasted garlic or pine nut hummus it's ridiculous.
shareI've never tried pine nut hummus but I've tried roasted garlic before. It was really good, I was convinced I wouldn't like it.
Funny you mention the allergy, I've discovered the same thing about myself but with chocolate instead of cheese, also loving the way I feel. I used to feel terrible all the time.
I have to be real selective with chocolate. As long as it's got no milk I am good. My milk allergy is strange because it manifests itself in ways that one doesn't typically think of as an allergy, ie. my back pain. I have been off dairy for about 2 months now and I feel amazing.
How did you discover you have a dairy allergy or sensitivity? Must have been some kind of symptoms. In addition to your back pains?
I don't *think* I do, and am hoping I don't! Milk I don't care about, or most dairy products, but cheese, that would be very difficult for me to give up.
Can you do goat's milk, and goat cheese? I know a lot of people who are sensitive to cow products are find with goat products.
I am glad your back pain has vanished 👍
Back pain was main thing. Like major inflammation along spine and in shoulders. There is something called allergic tension fatigue syndrome. Triggered by an allergen, it causes you to alternate between extreme muscle tension and fatigue. I noticed I had been feeling terrible upper back and shoulder pain and I tried to narrow down the culprit. Allergenic tension fatigue is often trigger by milk or gluten as the most common things. It was clear that I didn't have an issue with wheat, although I did cut it way down. I noticed I had been eating a lot of yogurt and decided it was the likely problem. I confirmed it after I was totally dairy free and my symptoms disappeared. I do miss pizza, but I have made a couple fake cheese pizzas that weren't bad. There are decent replacements for it, but nothing will ever be as good as the real thing. For milk I do almond milk and for ice cream I do cashew milk frozen dessert. I am on the lookout for sorbet, but nobody seems to have it. Dairy free options are not as available as gluten free, but they are becoming more and more available. Oreos are dairy free.
shareHey Pete.
A tasty alternative to ice cream which I make is this, chop up bananas and freeze them, remove from freezer and allow to defrost slightly then add some fruit and honey/agave syrup and blitz with a stick blender or in a food processor. It's amazingly similar to ice cream and you can even add cocoa to make chocolate!
You could also try freezing dairy free yoghurt.
I've made Dairy free butter using coconut oil and olive oil and salt, there are recipes online which are really easy.
Alas cheese is not so easy, some folk use nutritional yeast flakes to flavour silken tofu or just sprinkled over pasta. Not really cheesy is I'm honest but tasty.
I've done this before and like to add a small amount of frozen mangoes for sweetness. Blueberries are good too.
shareIt took me literal years to figure it out. I felt shitty for a decade.
