Did you like ABBA ??

Back in the 70s I actually liked their songs. Super Trouper was my favorite.

reply

Who doesn't like ABBA?

reply

it is ABBA

reply

I'm not going to say best band to have ever graced this Earth but when I hear a tune of theirs I immediate start toetapping at the very least (Usually a lot more).

They are awesome and I hear they are doing some sort of comeback tour - I don't have the details because I don't want spoiled but I'm hoping new material and still as catchy and relatable Hownos.

How cool would that be?

reply

what was your favorite song ?

reply

Very, VERY difficult Hownos but this evening I'm going to side with Super Trouper as it mentions my home city in it and that makes it extra special to me.

Plenty of close contenders though!

reply

Glasgow right ?

reply

That's right!

reply

I do
Dancing Queen is still a pop station staple

reply

And what do you think is the correct line?

Dig in the dancing queen
or
Diggin' the dancing queen

reply

GlennyGirl😀
I go with 'Diggin''
The other sounds like the poor girl is getting put in the ground😀

reply

I know! Diggin' as in I'm diggin' it! I laugh when I see subtitles or closed-captioning with the dig in thing. "Dig in" makes no sense, but then I see a lot of subtitle mistakes. I always wonder who does the subtitles and where it the process it happens. Do they get a script copy? Maybe some do, but some don't. 🤔

reply

Foreign Movies with subs can be a strange trip too
You just know the subs are wrong and make no sense so you can only wonder what the dialogue really meant

reply

I get plenty of laughs, along with a few eye rolls, at subtitled British series. I swear they were done by some dumb American who isn't proofreading what they wrote. If they did, they'd realize it didn't make sense. 🙄 Context should help them see that.

reply

Context is key with subs
The South Korean movies often have terrible subs...
very hard to riddle out

reply

I think I roll my eyes the most with British fare because it's in English. We can tell when they blew it. Unless the subtitles are done by someone in India with English as a second or third language. Then all bets are off.

reply

Seems likely
Ever been on the phone with a service office based in India?
It is a harrowing experience...you catch about every third word, they are way too polite, you get annoyed and mouthy...
Indian Call Centers are a nightmare

reply

Nightmare indeed. I dread having to call customer service these days. However, some companies have realized their mistake and brought them back home. When my long-time job was off-shored to India I had to help train my Indian replacement. It was a pain trying to explain things to them when they had no cultural equivalent.

reply

I do! I do! Music that makes you want to dance. What's not to like?

reply

Honestly, they give me a headache. Waterloo and Dancing Queen are okay tunes, but the rest is just annoying.

reply

How can you not like Fernando ??

reply

Because it's a dumb and annoying song.

reply

You need to be re-educated. I won't bring up the K-Pop.

reply

Please, ABBA is just as much bubblegum pop. I can't help it if I have excellent taste. Even Super Trouper is a better song than Fernando.

reply

I do like Super Trouper but just sit back and clear your mind of all that K-Pop and take in Fernando

Can you hear the drums Fernando?

reply

I don't need to hear it! I already know how dumb and annoying it sounds!

reply

A bad start for my re-education program.

reply

Honey, come to my basement and I'll teach you a lesson or two!

reply

I can handle anything but K-Pop.

reply

Can you handle this???

https://youtu.be/q6f-LLM1H6U

reply

If only they looked older.

reply

They're old enough, Mitch!

reply

maybe one

reply

Then there's no way you can handle me and my basement!

reply

You would be no problem, it's the basement I am worried about.

reply

Come over and find out for yourself!😘

reply

I like my eggs scrambled, toast with raspberry jam and two cups of green tea.

reply

Dewey raided my fridge again, so just water and stale bread for you, I'm afraid.

reply

You guys should be engaged by now.

reply

Fernando is very good
Stratego is just a meanie:(

reply

she is being a meanie isn't she ??

reply

Always😭

reply

Love em! Those guys are great pop song writers

reply

I wasn't alive in the 70s, but I like ABBA now.

reply

Abba's decent, good background music down the pub 👍

reply

Correct as always Barry
Fun nights getting lit up and Abba always gets the ladies all happy!
Good stuff i say

reply

Cheers, It never fails to get everyone in a good mood. You can't go wrong with a bit of ABBA.

reply

Never really been a fan, but I have a fond memory of being in a bar with my friend in Aruba and for some strange reason, they only played ABBA.
