All the best to Alan Alda

He has Parkinson's at the age of 82. One of my all time favorite characters on one of my favorite shows. All the actors are slowly dying off - Wayne Rogers, David Ogden Stiers and William Christopher in recent years.

I'm sorry to hear this.

I loved M.A.S.H. Watched the entire series twice.

reply

I just saw him in an interview today where he said he takes boxing lessons three times a week because it helps him to cope. And he looked pretty good for his age as well.

reply

I saw him on The View yesterday and I thought he looked pretty good for 82.

reply

One of my favorite shows ever.
Very sad news indeed.

reply

Not really he is 82...It's not like Micheal J Fox who had it at 29 years old

reply

Having that disease at any age is very sad.

reply

I understand that...But when you're 80 and up, you got expect that...

reply

Even an 80 you shouldn't expect to have this disease.
It strips you of your dignity.
The only good thing is that he is 80.
He may not have to live with it for a long time.
He won't have to be around for it to get worse and then possibly Dementia.

Well said, godewey.

It's a horrible horrible thing to see what this does to people.
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

reply

That's true. A friend of mine's father died of it.

My grandfather started with Parkinson's and it developed into Dementia.
Not only what it does to the person but the people around them.
My mom dealt with him until he died. I still say dealing with him took years off her life.
Heartbreaking to see it happen to somebody you love.

On the brighter side it is Sunday!
Booya!!

reply

Sorry to hear that, my friend.

Be careful if he's handing you a Coke!
