What do you call this type of home in Canada? In the US many call it a ranch, although in my neck of the woods we call it a rambler. Single story home with basement.
shareRanch style close to the ground with a wide open layout. The basement is deep with very little light which keeps it cool in summer - the way I like it.
shareNice video!great house! Nice wide open concept👍 hell i even liked the music👍just pornish?
Pornesque? Porn adjacent👍 to be funky...I was tapping my Feet the whole time!
Great thread!
why is that video still on there?? the house sold years ago.
shareIt's roomy, but I'm not really a fan of bungalow style houses.
The neighbourhood itself doesn't look really attractive or am I wrong?😬
It looks awfully busy, doesn't it? I'd be looking for something more quiet, but maybe the video is a bit misleading.
shareIt looked very close to shopping...
Do we shop anymore?!?
Not much, eh? I can't remember how long it's been since I bought anything other than groceries or liquor. And gas.
shareWe go out once a week and I now escort M'Lady because people have started getting fresh (though not violent...)
I don't have to carry a wrench or anything but nobody pushes my gal around in the produce aisle!
I don't mind busy, I'm a city girl. It just looks like...an industrial park?
shareCould be. But I should talk. I live three house away from a busy street. Most of the time I don't mind it, but I will say I'm tired of motorcycles and loud trucks. Yep, we're just starting motorcycle season here. They do make their presence known. It's not that I expect absolute quiet, but there's plenty of unnecessary noise pollution around.
shareReno has at least one big motorcycle rally every year. It centers by the casinos only a few blocks from me. Once something very similar to this, only bigger, went right by my window. Not a fan.

Reminds of the time I lived in Phoenix many, many moons ago. There was some kind of motorcycle protest - I think it was against the helmet law if I remember right. I was helping with inventory at the company music store on Central Avenue when the protesters rode by. 45 minutes of bikers riding by, five or six abreast. It was pretty incredible - almost unbelievable. I've never seen so many bikers before or since. 🏍️
shareYes, the time I was talking about it seemed like it was at least a half hour, probably more (but only 2 - 3 abreast). I know what you mean about "motorcycle season." It's like there is a contest for the very loudest bike. And how about their sound systems? It's not contained in a car, so it's blasting out into the open air. Lovely.
shareYep, the blasting music is a more recent event. I'm old, so I remember the times before bikes had radios. You're spot on about the blasting motorcycle radios, though. I deal with it here. Gee, guys. Thanks a lot for "sharing" your music choices with the rest of us!
shareNo motorcycles here, but I do hate the garbage truck that comes around way too early in the morning to empty out the big trash container right across my door!
Or the organ grinder who came to visit the retirement home down the street from my parent's house every time I had a day off from school. That used to drive me crazy!😖
Makes me think of the new neighbor behind me, across the alley. I've lived here seven years now and that house has been empty except for the guys who were working for the flipper. But a couple of weeks ago, some new folks moved in. Great! Nice to have someone living there after all this time. Except...the guy starts up his loud pickup truck at six in the morning! Vroom, vroom - let's gun it! Gee, thanks!
And here I was so happy that Billy Idle was gone!! He liked to rev up his old beater car with its loud muffler, and then he'd sit there with the car running for a half an hour. Why?? Hence the name Billy Idle.
that's the main road in the area not where the house is located.
shareThe street shown is a main road where the supermarkets are located. It's just a typical busy road in any Canadian suburb. The street where the house is located would be much quieter with a lot of trees and parks. The video didn't show that street.
sharea better look at the neighborhood

Huge front yards, but why no fences, hedges, bushes or trees (well, a few of those)?
I really liked the look of this neighbourhood in Toronto. Are you familiar with the place?
https://youtu.be/SR0XA_5u4oI
Yorkville is the most expensive neighborhood in Toronto
Most people in the burbs don't have fences in the front but at back. Some have hedges. I like the open and spacious concept.
Well, that's no surprise! I wouldn't mind living in Yorkville.😁
I'm just kind of surprised everybody seemed to go for a simple grass lawn instead of an individual style.
we take pride in our lawns over here.
shareDamn straight! Who needs dumbass decorations!
https://i.gifer.com/DQga.gif
Do you have similar decorations too? Looks so masculine American. I'm about to decorate an place for me. Probably more Grandma prints mixed so it is colourful. I got to think of something to paint for my wall. A massive painting. maybe a tea garden to go with the theme.
shareIt is masculine now that you mention it with the sports jerseys on the wall. We have landscapes and such.
shareoh i see Hownos, a different world again
shareactaully i didn't think of having a full on theme for the new place im moving to.. what about LSD theme mixed with Space though... so fluro paints... either really bright or black.... its just a dream... probably not happening. i'm more of a grandma at 28
