I always knew it could happen to me because I have a big mouth and I thoroughly deserved my first warning. Never thought it would happen over a harmless joke though, never thought said joke would be compared to joking about rape and murder...but yes thin ice. Nuff said.
We can have degrees of membership too.
For example if you've had a post silently deleted, you can apply to join.
If you're waiting to hear from Jim you can apply to join.
If you've had a post deleted and a severe talking to you can apply to join.
One official warning and you're a member with one star.
Two official warnings you're a two star member.
Banned once, three stars and so on.

Exactly the point I was trying to make last night on a Team Liz thread but some people can't seem to handle constructive criticism when they claim to be looking for it and others just have to have a knee-jerk reaction to the word mod.

My counterance to the Trump tides is to use this site as it was intended. If that means trying to drum up games and events which involve movies, genres, actors and crew then that's what I'll do.
We have a perfectly fine politics section which won't be appearing on Trending and I suggest those wishing to discuss Trump use that instead of cluttering up the site for newcomers.
It cheapens the place more than obscure actors or movies appearing does and the long term benefits of having active pages for Google's search algorithm will aid Movie Chat in climbing up the ranks when searches are used with keywords.

Sometimes stuff does get lost in translation on here.
I do feel it's harmless fun though and actually I had several interesting chats with folk about the actors I bumped, so that can only be a positive.

If we think back to IMDb, for all of its faults, the individual boards were seldom troubled by political nonsense. Part of that may be due to the divisive nature of the current incumbent I guess and partially because there was a bigger international representation who didn't care about US politics!
The point is that it you wanted political debate you knew where to go and that was the politics board. For some reason that hasn't happened here.
I don't know why, or what the answer is.
