I hate forgetting things.

I forgot to mop the front of the store tonight and its all I can think about. I hate forgetting something that I told myself earlier, DO NOT FORGET THIS. I will worry about this all night haha.

What is something you always forget?

I'm always worried since its MY job to mop at night if I'm the closing cashier and I never want anyone to say anything to me like you know, those white boot prints are really noticeable since someone didn't mop last night.

I hardly ever get upset if I forget to mop my own house, honestly I don't mop it that often. That's a good trick though! Thank you so much! I'm going to try that next time. Oh yeah I live in AL, I could and have walked to work but not at night. Mostly drive everywhere.

reply

Go back and mop it, waitress. You have the key, right? You'll be able to relax then.

reply

[Oh yeah I live in AL]

Anywhere near Russellville?

reply

I could do that actually..I don't think I will though. I'm home now, sweats on. Too close to Rville haha. Small world.

reply

WOW! I got people there.

Are you a Bama fan?

reply

Die hard Bama fan. I love college football, I live for those few months. :)

reply

Excellent! Me too. My late father who is -Russellvilleman- my pen name was born there and he was brought up on Bryant and instilled in me the love for the Tide. I've in turn instilled it in my middle son. That one two years ago we went crazy here at the house. It was a great time for him & I to be together when they won it all. The last one a few months ago was super too, but, that one two years ago, when Drake stuck his foot in the ground and went for that that TD. We went nuts here, waitress. Cryin', carrying on. It was bedlam.

Bless your heart, waitress, glad to meet you!

reply

That's what I love about Alabama football, right on the edge of your seat until the very end. Two years ago was incredible and so was the National Championship game a few months back. I cried, jumped, screamed, both times :) My daughter doesn't care for football which is a bummer but she's only 11 so I'm hoping in the next few years.. Nice that you and your son can share those victories together, I know it means a lot. :)

Glad to meet you too!

reply

Are you an NFL fan as well? You are awesome! So happy to have you on board.

reply

I'm not that into NFL but I do enjoy watching the Patriots. Thanks! Happy to be here :)

Roll Tide!

Note: I have family in AL, but unfortunately they root for that other team. Sorry. You can't pick your relatives. The AL rooters in my family moved to Kansas, but still pull for the Tide.

ROLL TIDE!

I have family that roots for the other team too, totally understand what you mean. Awesome! Glad to know we have support in Kansas :D

I worked at this service station years ago. I closed it every night, locked up. I get home one night, shower, get in bed, just close my eyes and all I sudden it occurred to me that I may have not locked the damn door to the general store area of the service station, or, set the alarm. I hustle back up there, gingerly try the door and it opened! Had to be open about an hour total, in a moderately bad area of the city. Nothing was disturbed thank heavens.

reply

lucky that nothing was disturbed! Once one of my co-workers left a rolltainer full of mason jars outside on the sidewalk. I was so thankful that none were stolen or used to bust the doors open..

reply

I am the same way. Once I put on my sweats, I ain't movin for anything. Especially cleaning haha

reply

yes sameee. bra off, sweats on this chick ain't movin either. :)

reply

Whether I've closed the damn garage door. I've u-turned this street a 100 times or more to go back and double check. And then of course I pretend not to look because it's embarrassing and I don't want to give the neighbors the impression I wouldn't trust them if I did leave it open. So I drive past and use my peripherals.

I've left it open at night a couple times. Get up to go to the bathroom and I always open the inside door to the garage area just to check it. Twice it's stood wide open. That's enough to ruin the rest of the nights sleep. You don't know if someone is in the garage. Someone went thru the garage and is now in the house with us. I just have to give up the ghost and go room to room. No other choice.

reply

I would have to do the same thing. I've gotten up in the middle of the night because I heard a noise and just did a complete cop like walk through.

Frogg has given you a great neumonic device (memory trigger), thewaitress. Iโ€™d be reluctant to leave my keys laying around in a public place, but I live in Boston. If you live in a small town, that might be an option. Do you have a smartphone? You could leave yourself a note, or send yourself a text or an email. Make it a habit to check your notes before you leave work; or, if you have to do something at a certain time, you could set that time on your phoneโ€™s clock, and perhaps back it up with a note so you can remember exactly what that task is.

I like to forget that Trump is POTUS and that AI is going to kill us all. I try never to forget that there are truly wonderful people in the world.

reply

I usually keep my keys right on my belt loop, easy access to return something or do a price match. I don't own a smartphone, I'm anti-smartphone actually. I can't stand those things. Sometimes customers will say Miss, can you help me load the digital coupons? I'm like..sure! and completely clueless how to use that device. I do live in a pretty small town but I can't leave my keys out because If I lose them, then I'm fired. Maybe old fashioned note on my hand? Maybe I just need to be less scatter-brained. :P

TRUMPY! Yeah, I don't even bother paying attention to anything that man does/says. I've gotten SO MANY looks from people when I voice my personal opinion on politics and religion so I just stay quiet and give a little half smile.

reply

I despise all cell phones, so weโ€™re on the same page. I didnโ€™t own one until four years ago, because I wanted to get closer to a certain woman. The phone worked out. She didnโ€™t; BUT Iโ€™ve learned that it is possible to have a smart phone and NOT turn into a zombie. Those of us who still have social skills and a personality can use the phone as a personal computer. Iโ€™m in sales, and my phone gives me access to my clients (and then, to me), helps me navigate to an address, check inventory without being at a terminal, go on MC, look for a better job and do any of the things that I suggested to you. Iโ€™m glad that I got it; and the ringer is NEVER on.

reply

That's the trick! Not turning into a zombie while operating one. Can't tell you how many times this happens : its 9am and I'm attempting to tell a customer his/her total and they are just SO BUSY with that phone. They sigh and slam it down. Annoyed that I want to be paid for the goods they needed/wanted.

Glad it helps though! I don't think I'll ever get one unless I honestly need it.

That's a nice rule! I have that happen to me a lot and it is the most annoying thing. When it happens, I just walk away or shut up, whatever is easier.

reply

Leave the A/C on past the off peak hours & into the on peak hours.

Leave the glass patio door open in the back so I get that flow thru ventilation from the front door which has a locked courtyard past the locked security screen door When I wake up in the middle of night it's usually because I'm having a nightmare about that damn back door I forgot to close. So I approach it in fear that the screen will be sliced open, he'll be inside and I'll be murdered.

reply

I don't think there's anything I always forget, but I sympathize with you forgetting one last work task: Did I remember to leave a to-do list for the night crew?? Oh gosh, I don't remember now. Argh!

However, old fogy that I'm becoming, I get frustrated when I can't remember names. Just tonight my next-door neighbor and I went for a walk around the lake that's about 3 blocks away. As we headed out, we cut through our alley and ran into another neighbor. For the life of me, I couldn't remember the name of his dog! Drove me nuts, but then again, she (my next-door neighbor) didn't remember either. I used to have such a good memory, rarely had to write things down. Now? Yep, I keep a notepad handy.

reply

..You ever forget the list you made at home? I do that ALL the time.

reply

Sheesh! You just had to remind me of something else I forgot! ๐Ÿ˜œ

reply

Yes, and how many times I get a thought, a really great one about a movie I want to bring up here, or, a quote for the Challenge Thread. "Do it now, you'll forget."

"No way, it's such a great idea, I can't possibly forget it." 2 minutes later it's gone, not a clue as to what it was.

reply

I've done this, too. ๐Ÿ™„ ...Great idea for a post...what was it again? Um...๐Ÿค” Ah, crud - forgot again.

reply

I have a perfect memory, I never forget anything. In fact, just the other day I was................................. what were we talking about?

I've done this, too. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

If I get the least bit distracted in the store, I don't know what happens to me but I forget so much. I've had to put the few items I did manage to remember in the car and just turn right back around. At least I'm still in the parking lot.

reply

I have a softball tournament this weekend and I made a special trip to get supplies (water, snacks, sunscreen) but once I got there I lost my train of thought, and I purchased none of these items. Instead I bought junk food for a Netflix night.

reply

Good luck on the tournament and enjoy your Netflix night :)

reply

Thanks friend. Netflix night will actually be watching wrestling night, which will be Friday night. I am super excited for my first softball tourney of the year!

"What is something you always forget?"

Too Much!
We have had a post on this not all that long ago. I'll tell you what I said on that thread.....
As we get older, we store up the memories. After a while, those memory banks overload.
I can remember things from 40 years ago. I can even remember the clothes I wore on certain occasions, and it wasn't even an occasion where I was photographed!
I'm having a very hard time remembering what I had for lunch today! I can decide to do something right now..... I go to another room and I can't remember what that little task was!

MEMORY OVERLOAD! That's my thoughts on the matter.

reply

TMI ... yeah, I have a hard time remembering new actors names. Is it a bad memory or do I just not care so much. Same with musicians. I have a hard enough time with the weird group names, I sure cannot remember individual musicians' names.
