What do you miss the most about the 90's?

Me what I miss the most about the 1990's was the low gas prices, food, toiletries were a lot more affordable and of course the music was a lot better.

In short...every fucking thing!!!

I can do better since I got the top of the page...
Beastie Boys!!! Hell...hip hop in general
LSD...not that LSA shit they got now!
Concerts under a hundred bucks!
BW-3!!!
STAR WARS not sucking
GRUNGE!
A world without the Kardashians or Kanye

I'm sure I got more...

Look up William Leonard Pickard. His arrest is why the LSD availability pretty much ceased to exist. Most of the stuff floating around nowadays is bunk/fake and can be dangerous.

Had the pleasure of engaging personally with the man back in the 90s...swell fella! The YouTuber Nuerosoup brought him down...fine piece of ass...grade A CUNT!

reply

Hopefully there's a chance he will be pardoned at some point. 2 life sentences is shocking and unfair, clearly the result of the failed Drug War.

I remember that girl from a Vice Documentary years back. I just checked out her Youtube page and comments are disabled on all video for obvious reasons. Rats are the lowest of the low and I'm a firm believer in Karma. What goes around, comes around.

reply

I like ya Padeen! Hope to see you around👍

reply

Bill Hicks... everything else sucked, especially the movies, music, and a continuance of conformist, consumerist culture.

Things may come to me eventually, but at the moment all I remember about the 90s is raising three young children on my own while working full time. Luckily, I had some really good friends who kept me sane and helped me when I needed it. My dad stepped in and helped make up for the kids not having their father around (his choice, not mine). My dad took the boys fishing, camping, hunting etc. and was there when I needed moral/emotional support. I'm very grateful for everything he did for me.

Really cool classic cars were frequently available and affordable...
Mustangs, Trans Ams, Chevie Novas...you could pick up the paper and find one nearby for a couple Thousand bucks...

House parties were a huge thing for us here in New York
The Mom and Dad would go upstairs for the night and the first floor would fill up with teens and young '20s people...
Beer, Jello Shots, Pearl Jam always seemed to be on the radio, people hooked up...
Some really great parties
This went away by the mid 90s as law enforcement began a heavy crackdown on the 'cool' parents who allowed this

I guess i understand why they did crack down but im glad it was pretty common to have house parties when i was a young guy

A world without smart phones!

reply

My Nokia phone was pretty sweet!

I also miss the way people dressed in the 90's and the clothing seemed to be much better quality then than now.

DB, are the pubs like that one in "An American Werewolf in London?"

I like how the pubs are shown in movies. Everybody crowded around the bar, in their rain apparel talking in soft tones, being courteous to one another, no jostling, or, rancor. Is it like that?

video stores

reply

You have no video stores?
We have Family Video a couple of blocks down the street from us. Don't know how long that will last. They put in a pizza place this past year. Now you can order Pizza with a movie. They are hanging in there!

reply

I am happy to hear some video stores are still in business. I always thought Blockbuster should have hung in there a little longer.

reply

I'm afraid that they are nearly phased out. Here in Wisconsin, we still have Family Video in many towns and citys.

reply

all gone here in Toronto.
