Most loved movie/show that you hated

Okay, this is the reverse question raised in another post. What show or movie did you hate that everyone else seemingly raved about?

I'll take the first bullet...

For me it was Mad Max:Fury Road. I was kinda meh about Tom Hardy as the new Max. Still, I gave it a chance... gave up 20 minutes in, didn't watch it again ever.

The movie's biggest failing, to my mind, was that it completely ignored the carefully constructed world of the first three movies, particularly 2 and 3. In those movies, Miller showed us this world driven by scarcity. We see Max scrambling to catch a few drops of precious gasoline in an old aluminum pie plate. We see The Humungus carefully measure out the bullets he will use because they are so rare.

The entire plot of the second movie was driven by the battle to get control of a supply of gasoline. The entire concept of Barter Town (powered by pig feces) in the third movie is based on scarcity.

In Fury Road, I watched the villainous villain stupidly dump a huge sum of water over his people just so he could see them scramble for it before most of it washed away. It was at the point where I saw the flame-throwing, gas-guzzling guitar that I gave up. In a world of "blood and fire" these things were simply stupid... but they looked cool, didn't they?

And that was the problem for me. By all accounts, it was a very good ACTION movie. It just wasn't a good MAD MAX movie.

FWIW...

Hate is a strong word but I never saw what was so great about the series Friends

What is great -- or even good -- about "Forrest Gump"?

I hated Friends. Own it. Not going to dilute it.

Better Call Saul: I tried to get into it, but I just find it so slow and tedious. The creators keep saying, "It's not supposed to be Breaking Bad" Well, it's pretty hard to separate them since it seems to over-rely on adding characters from Breaking Bad onto the show without making their new characters in any way interesting. I don't care about Chuck or Kim. Saul is a great supporting character, but I don't think he works as the lead.

Most hated movie? Most if not all Marvel movies or pretty much all comic book movies. I completely understand why children love these movies, but my goodness, they are mindless movies that seem to get a heap of praise whenever a new one comes out and then a month later when the hype has died down, the spell wears off and people are like, "Oh it was an ok movie" If I had to pick one I had a particular dissatisfaction with, I'd go with Guardians of the Galaxy, I didn't care for the characters, I didn't think they were funny either and the action was bad. I couldn't believe, I seen someone wrote "This generations Star Wars" I mean, come on. Star Wars has lived on for 40 years or so. I don't think anyone is going to remember any of these comic book movies in ten years.

Ghostboy: You take that back about Better Call Saul otherwise I will see you in the car park. ;-)

For me, one of the best shows ever. I love slow burning shows and it is just up my yard.

Breaking Bad.

Star Wars and all its lousy sequels.

I was teenager (just the right age) when it came out. Saw it & thought ok. Tried to watch it again on TV and couldn't get past the 20 minutes. It is terrible. All the sequels I have at least tried to give a chance (apart from the last two movies that came out recently) & can't stand any of them.

Games of thrones - I don't know what the fuss is all about. That's all I will say.

Probably "Seinfeld". I never liked it, and when I mention this, I get excoriated on this and another chat board!
