How old are you?

I am 30

reply

Why you’d want to know this I don’t know but if you must know I’m 41.

reply

I'm curious the demographics that post on message boards. It doesn't seem like something 14 year olds would do but I might be wrong. Curiosity

reply

[deleted]

I was almost 14

reply

I found the thread thanks

It was very weird being in school that day. Most classes we just watched it play out on TV.

reply

I remember it was Tuesday

reply

[deleted]

Wow, this really mirrors what I experienced during the day Kennedy got shot. I was also in grade school.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah, so when 9/11 occurred, I was of course stunned like everyone else but my almost immediate secondary reaction was my somewhat jaded awareness of the world we live in.

reply

"Like you, I was in school that day, in 2nd grade not understanding what I saw before me on TV. Confusion soon followed as everyone looked distraught and unusually sad, very unnerving seeing adults that way being young. I soon felt shock once I realized what happened. Suddenly, I realized how cruel the world could be."

I was in my late 40s. I'd worked a night shift. When I got up, I saw my husband watching something on TV. A plane was crashing into a tall building. Then there was footage of people running fast and crazy from all of this dust and debris.
To me, it looked like a very realistic news cast, but I figured it had to be some movie until my husband looked at me.

I , and many others had the same childhood experience on 11/22/63 when President Kennedy was assassinated. I was in the first grade and our teacher came in crying after lunch. Seeing a grownup so distraught was frightening and surreal. Especially your teacher. That was the day....and the days that followed, when I learned how cruel and ugly things could get. We had yet to see the man accused of killing the president shot On live TV.

reply

That was a major wake-up call for me, MissMargo and yes " surreal " describes it, trying to process those events playing out on television at such a young age.

reply

It was the strangest few days of our lives, wasn't it? We'd never had 24 hour TV programing before, and it was all news and updates, but what was really weird was that there were no commercials! That was unheard of back then. Even at that young age though, the TV was kept on and we just couldn't look away for very long.

reply

A visibly distraught Walter Cronkite is an image indelibly etched in my memory.

reply

You can see all of that on YouTube these days, and yet, you can still remember your first impressions the first time you saw it.
Walter Cronkite was that dignified man on the evening news. Suddenly seeing him in shirtsleeves and being vulnerable was so unnerving!

reply

Im 45 and yes...i look amazing😎

reply

^^THIS^^

reply

I'm older than you??? Fuck me!

reply

I just meant younkerSguy does look amazing for his age!
So I've heard.

You're also older than me......so yeah.....
And no thank you.
Well, maybe for your birthday. We'll see.

reply

Glad to say...my birthday was a few weeks ago...whew!😉

reply

Glad to say your loss!
Ask anybody!

Maybe for Cinco de Mayo?

reply

LOL to all of that you maniac!
😂

reply

I've always said I like to keep my options open.
You_just_never_know!

reply

Hey no judgies here buddy

reply

Sooo, what you got goin on this weekend?
I have a basement too you know.

It's now even clean after the flood.

reply

LOL!

Careful...we dont want HERSELF pissed off at us!

I was wondering how your basement turned out...Oddly
enough i had a burst well pipe around the same time...total mess but i got lucky

You all in one piece now?

reply

I'm used to HERSELF being mad at me.
You're safe.

That sucks. Weird weather this year.
Hell, the last few years.

I'm good as of tomorrow.
Basement dry and clean and new washer and dryer being delivered tomorrow.
I can't turn my underwear inside out any more!

reply

Real talk!
That lady doesnt play...except when she's playing😖

Ive got two sump pumps...they saved my home!
And my rabbits too...i keep them in the back cellar during winter...the cages were nearly floating!

Warm sunny weather incoming...this winter was a beast
Hang in there amigo

reply

That really sucks. Not the rabbits!

I've learned one thing this year.
Everything in my basement will now be at least 8" off the floor.
Not sure how that will work with the washer and pool table but it will happen.
Also putting in a few more risers on my septic.

Weather has been helpful as of late.
We'll make it. Like we always do.
Next week is spring.
What could go wrong?

reply

Yes...a near total bunny wipe out but their cages are slightly raised off the floor

Shelving is key...the water never reached my holiday decorations...that was a blessing!

'Nothing gonna stop us now🎶

reply

I got lumber coming tomorrow.
I'm going to be a shelving fool.

Look for the videos on youtube. 🔩 🔨

Don't Stop Believin'.

reply

Yes!

Rock out and build shelves...perfect plan

reply

I had a water-powered backup sump pump installed. Works great except that it ends up adding a gallon of water for every two that it pumps out, all of which ends up supersaturating your yard.

Better than a flooded basement, but if you’re facing an extended power outage it quickly becomes more economical to put in a standby natural gas generator.

reply

I hava a big Genny but it was the damn burst pipe that nearly sunk me

I should look into your pump type as mine are electric...food for thought

Thx Tex!

reply

Oh puh-leeze!
You are way hotter than i and no more than 35...i hear the MC girls go on about you!!

reply

You're right I was 35 at one time.
I just can't remember that one time.

I'm sure the only time I was hotter is when I was living in the desert.

reply

But there's hope. You still have cremation to look forward to.

reply

Ha!
There is that.

After some of the days out there cremation may be a major upgrade.
At least temperature wise.

reply

I'm 45 too! Well I'll be damned!

reply

I always knew you were the coolest sunnygirl🌞😙

reply

62 and still kickin!

reply

I'm old enough to be offended by the question LOL. Ill just say that so far I'm the oldest😉

reply

40, but I still feel 25. And I still feel 18 year olds ;)

reply

Heres to remaining immature forever Frog🍻😉

reply

you may get arrested for that

reply

Don't worry, they allow it! I don't just grab willy nilly.

reply

You have to settle down man

reply

No way! That's how you get old. If you want to stay young, you gotta just stay young.

reply

Hahaha...nice one!

Might be worth it😉

reply

35, but I look 15.

reply

You're way too young for Wayne Gretzky.

reply

You don't know his preferences.😤

reply

Try Sydney Crosby - 31/single and much better looking

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Crosby#Personal_life

reply

Not as rich, though. Do you have his number?

reply

How rich do you want ??

Try the Penguins number 1-412-386-2646

reply

I'm calling right now, but they've put me on hold and now I'm forced to listen to My Heart Will Go On.😑

reply

Are you puck bunny ?? Google it, please don't be offended.

reply

We don't have ice hockey over here, so just change the letter p.👯‍♀️

reply

that made me laugh.

a f$#k bunny would be croft.

reply

How about Mario?

reply

Mario Gretzky?

reply

Haha Mario Lemieux.
Greatest hockey player of all time, now actually owns part of the team he used to play for. He's the boss! Are you into hockey players or are you looking for a rich guy?

reply

Just looking for a rich guy, I don't give a shit about hockey.

reply

Ahhhh I see. Hard time for a single gal (I am assuming your single) to meet a rich guy where you are?

reply

I'm always on the lookout for a better catch.

reply

Ah I see. Fair enough. Honest. I like that

reply

35-20-34?

Sure, honey!😘

reply

This turned into quite the thread when I was at the gym. So far I'm one of the youngest

reply

croft is 29

reply

I did the math on twinA and I think that's youngest so far, still in twenties though, guess message boards really aren't a teen thing, as I suspected.

reply

Yay...someone older than me👴

reply

I thought you were retired ???

reply

I am

reply

so young ??

reply

Sorry...hit submit accidentaly then got distracted...that was supposed to read...
I am self employed and have several small businesses and two non profits... I have been fortunate enough to not have to attend to the day to days for about a decade...so I live the life of a retired person, but still have an income. I do often jest about being retired...but I do "work" just not very much or hard😉

reply

Very nice. What are your non profits involved in ??

reply

One is designated for veterans, the other is for senior citizens, but is actually a spin off of the original idea...basically service pets for both. In the future it would be my wish that veterans facilities, retirement and convalescence centers and animal shelters would work in conjunction to fill the needs for all concerned. Thanks for asking!

reply

admirable work.

reply

The really admirable qualities and cudos go to the community...the volunteers...and my wife! I just saw a void and a way to fill it...they really do all the heavy lifting...

reply

Are you hiring? Need a good librarian? :)

reply

THERE HE IS!!! A librarian? The wifey says unfortunately no...although evidently newspapers are always welcome??? I really need to take a more active interest in these things 😉

reply

A well that's ok. I'm not really lookin. I love newspapers. I mean how else are you supposed to get the news?

reply

Yeah...I think they are popular due to their absorbency in this instance. You are an actual librarian? If so...that is kind of a ballin job!
I read a lot!

reply

It is ballin. I work at both an elementary school library (which is fun most of the time) and a university library. It is pretty ballin. I love reading. Actual books, non of this kindle crap. I mostly read biographies.

reply

Gotta say...I'm at a cross roads right now...LOVE actual books...BUT...the old eyes arent what they used to be and that enlarge print feature is quite awesome on those devices! Oh the ravages of time 😉 also do a shit load of audio books in the summer...

reply

I love audio books on long car drives and what not. Too each his own, as I am sure there will be a time when I realize I want a device to read. But for now I am worried about dropping it or breaking it. Plus holding a giant IPAD to flip through a book.... Ug.... no

reply

Oh I doubt you will ever find a time you want one...need one? Well that may be a horse of a different color😉 I imagine the same applies for old men and Viagra 😳

reply

[deleted]

There's been a 62 and 69, care to answer now that we all have?

reply

Slow that hustle down Charlie...us old farts are slow in our uptake😉 but seriously...I thought I dropped in an earlier post...doh! 47 and living the fucking dream!
