How old are you?
I am 30
shareWhy you’d want to know this I don’t know but if you must know I’m 41.
shareI'm curious the demographics that post on message boards. It doesn't seem like something 14 year olds would do but I might be wrong. Curiosity

I was almost 14
shareI found the thread thanks

It was very weird being in school that day. Most classes we just watched it play out on TV.
shareI remember it was Tuesday
share[deleted]
"Like you, I was in school that day, in 2nd grade not understanding what I saw before me on TV. Confusion soon followed as everyone looked distraught and unusually sad, very unnerving seeing adults that way being young. I soon felt shock once I realized what happened. Suddenly, I realized how cruel the world could be."
I was in my late 40s. I'd worked a night shift. When I got up, I saw my husband watching something on TV. A plane was crashing into a tall building. Then there was footage of people running fast and crazy from all of this dust and debris.
To me, it looked like a very realistic news cast, but I figured it had to be some movie until my husband looked at me.
I , and many others had the same childhood experience on 11/22/63 when President Kennedy was assassinated. I was in the first grade and our teacher came in crying after lunch. Seeing a grownup so distraught was frightening and surreal. Especially your teacher. That was the day....and the days that followed, when I learned how cruel and ugly things could get. We had yet to see the man accused of killing the president shot On live TV.
That was a major wake-up call for me, MissMargo and yes " surreal " describes it, trying to process those events playing out on television at such a young age.
shareIt was the strangest few days of our lives, wasn't it? We'd never had 24 hour TV programing before, and it was all news and updates, but what was really weird was that there were no commercials! That was unheard of back then. Even at that young age though, the TV was kept on and we just couldn't look away for very long.
shareA visibly distraught Walter Cronkite is an image indelibly etched in my memory.
shareYou can see all of that on YouTube these days, and yet, you can still remember your first impressions the first time you saw it.
Walter Cronkite was that dignified man on the evening news. Suddenly seeing him in shirtsleeves and being vulnerable was so unnerving!
Im 45 and yes...i look amazing😎
share^^THIS^^
shareI'm older than you??? Fuck me!
shareI just meant younkerSguy does look amazing for his age!
So I've heard.
You're also older than me......so yeah.....
And no thank you.
Well, maybe for your birthday. We'll see.
LOL to all of that you maniac!
😂
I've always said I like to keep my options open.
You_just_never_know!
Hey no judgies here buddy
shareSooo, what you got goin on this weekend?
I have a basement too you know.
It's now even clean after the flood.
LOL!
Careful...we dont want HERSELF pissed off at us!
I was wondering how your basement turned out...Oddly
enough i had a burst well pipe around the same time...total mess but i got lucky
You all in one piece now?
I'm used to HERSELF being mad at me.
You're safe.
That sucks. Weird weather this year.
Hell, the last few years.
I'm good as of tomorrow.
Basement dry and clean and new washer and dryer being delivered tomorrow.
I can't turn my underwear inside out any more!
Real talk!
That lady doesnt play...except when she's playing😖
Ive got two sump pumps...they saved my home!
And my rabbits too...i keep them in the back cellar during winter...the cages were nearly floating!
Warm sunny weather incoming...this winter was a beast
Hang in there amigo
That really sucks. Not the rabbits!
I've learned one thing this year.
Everything in my basement will now be at least 8" off the floor.
Not sure how that will work with the washer and pool table but it will happen.
Also putting in a few more risers on my septic.
Weather has been helpful as of late.
We'll make it. Like we always do.
Next week is spring.
What could go wrong?
Yes...a near total bunny wipe out but their cages are slightly raised off the floor
Shelving is key...the water never reached my holiday decorations...that was a blessing!
'Nothing gonna stop us now🎶
I had a water-powered backup sump pump installed. Works great except that it ends up adding a gallon of water for every two that it pumps out, all of which ends up supersaturating your yard.
Better than a flooded basement, but if you’re facing an extended power outage it quickly becomes more economical to put in a standby natural gas generator.
I hava a big Genny but it was the damn burst pipe that nearly sunk me
I should look into your pump type as mine are electric...food for thought
Thx Tex!
62 and still kickin!
shareI'm old enough to be offended by the question LOL. Ill just say that so far I'm the oldest😉
share35, but I look 15.
shareYou're way too young for Wayne Gretzky.

shareYay...someone older than me👴
shareI thought you were retired ???
shareI am
shareso young ??
shareSorry...hit submit accidentaly then got distracted...that was supposed to read...
I am self employed and have several small businesses and two non profits... I have been fortunate enough to not have to attend to the day to days for about a decade...so I live the life of a retired person, but still have an income. I do often jest about being retired...but I do "work" just not very much or hard😉
Very nice. What are your non profits involved in ??
shareOne is designated for veterans, the other is for senior citizens, but is actually a spin off of the original idea...basically service pets for both. In the future it would be my wish that veterans facilities, retirement and convalescence centers and animal shelters would work in conjunction to fill the needs for all concerned. Thanks for asking!
shareAre you hiring? Need a good librarian? :)
shareTHERE HE IS!!! A librarian? The wifey says unfortunately no...although evidently newspapers are always welcome??? I really need to take a more active interest in these things 😉
shareA well that's ok. I'm not really lookin. I love newspapers. I mean how else are you supposed to get the news?
shareYeah...I think they are popular due to their absorbency in this instance. You are an actual librarian? If so...that is kind of a ballin job!
I read a lot!
It is ballin. I work at both an elementary school library (which is fun most of the time) and a university library. It is pretty ballin. I love reading. Actual books, non of this kindle crap. I mostly read biographies.
shareGotta say...I'm at a cross roads right now...LOVE actual books...BUT...the old eyes arent what they used to be and that enlarge print feature is quite awesome on those devices! Oh the ravages of time 😉 also do a shit load of audio books in the summer...
shareI love audio books on long car drives and what not. Too each his own, as I am sure there will be a time when I realize I want a device to read. But for now I am worried about dropping it or breaking it. Plus holding a giant IPAD to flip through a book.... Ug.... no
shareOh I doubt you will ever find a time you want one...need one? Well that may be a horse of a different color😉 I imagine the same applies for old men and Viagra 😳
