The Oscars: Exactly as I predicted on a recent post!

Best Film: The Shape of Water - The Artsy Fartsy liberal diversity movie. (A cinematic turd however. imho.)

Best Actress: Frances McDormand - Three Billboards (The ACTUAL best picture.) Nuff said!
She also gave the best acceptance speech of the night, but the ending "two words" were lame.
I loved it when she had all the female nominees stand.

Best Supporting Actor - Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards. Btw, he gave the second best speech.

Note: I am the "seer of seers". I will be available later in the lobby for stock picks!

PS Other thoughts:

I loved the gag when they went into the cinema. Great bit. I also loved the Jet Ski bit, but it was actually a Wave Runner.

Gary Oldman FINALLY won an Oscar! It takes a Brit to play a Brit!

Jodie Foster couldn't even SAY the word "actress"? Was she ordered not to say it?
So all pronouns must now be gender neutral?

Bringing back Beatty and Dunaway to announce the Best Picture: Brilliant! Everyone deserves a second chance.

PPS I'm now watching "The After Party" on ETV. This, of course, is the one time a year when I watch ETV,

Shape of Water = Splash with the genders reversed.

And Creature from the Blue Lagoon too!

I like your creative color swapping!

Blue Lives Matter Spanners!

Please don't get me started on #____LivesMatter.

An interesting topic for sure Kawule, not one I think a brief moment on the Oscars can remedy though. It might even harm it having wealthy privileged people talk about it with empathy prior to going off to their drug fuelled paedo parties afterwards.

Yes, but that's the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Juror.

I think he was combining it with the sexualized Blue Lagoon movie.

reply

Okay. I just realized that. Humor.

Good point, but in Splash, Hannah changed into a human being when on land, so Tom Hanks' character was not engaging in bestiality.

Do you think The Shape of Water would have won if not for the "diversity" theme? Like what if she just fell in love with Aquaman. NO way it would be this popular. I watched it the other night for the 2nd time and couldn't make it past 30 minutes.

reply

Of course not! That's exactly WHY it won. The pinheads in "Holier-than-thou-wood" LOVE diversity. Take away the diversity,
and it's a stupid, disgusting film about bestiality. The only reason I went to see it was because it was nominated for Best Picture.

My impression was it was the word "Best" that was the problem, not the word "Actress." Like not only do they have to say "the Oscar goes to" instead of "the winner is..." so as not to make the other nominees feel like losers, but now they can't even say Best so as not to hurt the others' feelings when the whole idea of any awards show is who's Best!

reply

Okay then. Perhaps I misunderstood what was going on there. Thanks.
