shareMeh. I haven't watched them in years. They've become too politicized.
shareThey'll be handing out a record 110,000 condoms at the winter games this year.
It's still all about "doing it" for your country.
Thanks, I needed to know that.
shareLOL.
Why do you think people really want to go to the Olympics?
That's a long way to go for something you can get closer to home. Oh wait...
shareThe best part is the athletes get sponsors and people to pay for it.
It's like we're all pimps.
Seriously, the stories of what happens in the Olympic village are out there.
I don't think you really want to know.
Tsk, the condom dispenser at my front door goes through a lot more than that.
shareI don't see how.
It doesn't even accept dollar bills.
This is for the whole winter Olympics not the weekend.
Sorry, I should have been more clear.
So my world record was never in any danger? Phew!
shareI venture to say that a record of your caliber will never be in jeopardy.
If you get a machine that accepts dollar bills I can't imagine what you'd be able to do.
Hold on, yes I can imagine it. I'm looking at my checking account right now.
LOL!
π
Yes i have it here. All kind of winter sports and free.
shareThe NHL players are not there so I am boycotting these Olympics
shareAre they not allowed?
shareThe NHL and IOC could not come to an agreement so there are a bunch of nobodies playing. Not interested.
shareI don't blame you.
I thought all of this crap was behind us.
They say it's the world's best but that's not the case.
I haven't watched the Olympics since the whole Ben Johnson fiasco.
Ben Johnson, that was 1988. I got caught up in Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt in 2016. Two great athletes.
share88 sounds about right. It was a long time ago.
After that it just soured me on the Olympics.
I'll take the miracle on Ice over all of it.
Still remember where I was that night.
I was glued to the TV during the Miracle on Ice. We hated the Soviet hockey team here in Canada.
shareIt's weird I never was a huge hockey fan.
I was more so back then. Going to college hockey games not so much the pros.
Yet I still remember exactly where I was during this game.
I can't say that about many things in my life.
For some reason this one is etched in my mind.
The win over the Soviets was on a Friday and the gold medal game against Finland was on a Sunday. Both games on are youtube and a few years ago I went back and watched both games. Al Michaels was the play by play guy. I remember my father was stunned when they beat the Soviets.
shareIt's one of those things that people think was the last game.
Like game 6 in the 1986 series. The ball went through Buckner's legs but that wasn't
the last game.
The US still had to play another game.
I think everybody was stunned that we won. Even most of the US.
I remember that a couple of players from the college hockey team I watched
were on that team. That may be why I was so involved in it.
The Finland game was also a good close game.
Do you remember the players' names ??
Mark Johnson
Bob Suter
Still remember them to this day.
Bob Suter died a few years ago. His son Ryan is a pretty good NHL defenseman.
Johnson was a journeyman NHLer and went on to a successful NCAA coaching career.
I knew about Johnson becoming a coach.
Women's hockey right?
I don't remember hearing that Suter died.
Too bad, I'll never forget the name.
I was watching some of the opening ceremony (it was on one of the TVs in the bar), and a thought occurred to me:
What if they skipped this silly extravaganza, and the halftime show at the Superbowl, which nobody watches, and use the money to feed homeless people or people in third world countries?
Thoughts?

This and all companies that spend millions of dollars on "tests" and "reports" on different things.
Hollywood alone spends millions of dollars on things that never amount to anything.
Imagine what a wonderful world it would be.
Now if a man tried to take his time on Earth
And prove before he died
What one man's life could be worth
Well, I wonder what would happen to this world?
