Top Gun

reply

You mean Top Gun that was directed by Tony Scott, right?

reply

It was on my mind because the song by Berlin happened to be playing.

reply

What song is it? Can you please give me the name of that song? I want to try it out. Thanks.

reply

The song by Berlin you're asking about is Take My Breath Away.

reply

What a wonderful song, thanks for sharing. Please feel free to give more your favourite songs, if you want to. lol.

The Godfather (1972)
RoboCop (1987)
The Lion King (1994)
City of God (2002)

Thanks so much for your lists. I heard that Disney's the Lion King will be getting a remake following the success of The Jungle Book. Does it true?

reply

Yes, in a little less than two years: http://screenrant.com/lion-king-remake-release-date-summer-2019/

reply

How wonderful! Which one do you think is going to be better? Just guess (from your opinion).

reply

I’m one of the few people who never saw The Lion King, but I’m a fan of Jon Favreau’s work so I think there’s good reason to be optimistic.

reply

Same here, I became a fan of Jon Favreau’s works since The Iron Man and The Jungle Book and I'm really looking forward to his next project.

The 1001 movies you must see before you die is the best list. All movies that were signficant for one reason or another. I'm not saying you'll love or even like every film on there but as far as essential viewing for cinephiles go it's pretty definitive.

reply

First I a bit confused, yet I later know that The 1001 movies you must see before you die is the movie's name. lol. Thanks for opening my world.

reply

Okay, I can't help jumping in here, but here are mine:

West Side Story

Lawrence of Arabia

The Lion King

The Sound of Music

Bonnie & Clyde

In the Heat of the Night

To Sir with Love

reply

According to your list, the movie I used to watch was the Lion King and I can't wait for the remake version. By the way, thanks for your great list, I'll try those movies as you suggested. Now, which one should I begin with? lol.

reply

You're welcome, Barbelost. Thank you for the compliment. The Lion King was a good film. I had no idea that there was a re-make of this particular movie in the offing.

As for the movie to begin with, I recommend West Side Story, but it's to each their own.

You can also try this section out, which still has all of the imdb posts as well:

Thank yo so much. I'll try it out.

Just off the top of my head? The Truman Show. I don't know why, but I feel like it was ahead of its time when it came out and now it's probably more relevant than it has ever been. And it's just like a really good movie that makes you think.

reply

Same here, I really love the Truman Show. I used to watch it since I studied in the college. There are a lot of details to think about and it's really a great movie. Do you have any other movies that similar to this one? Thanks so much for your kindly replies.

reply

There's a movie called EDTV that is basically The Truman Show but with Matthew McConaughey - but I wouldn't recommend it because it's a ripoff.

However, Pleasantville really reminds me of The Truman Show in a lot of ways and I definitely would recommend it.

reply

You mean Pleasantville (1998) which was directed by Gary Ross, right?

reply

Yes I think so.

reply

The main male character looks just like a former spiderman lol. Is he the one?

reply

He's the one. Tobey Maguire

reply

Thanks for your great list. I used to hear the Rashomon since I studied in the college but it was the musical not a movie. Does it different from one another and just the same? And, I think that some of movies from your list used to be remake as the Musical, do they?

So, in addition to your list, The Philadelphia Story and Born Yesterday are comedy, right?
