I think the more common spelling used to be Aria. Either is better than those poor kids named "Kylo" by their Star Wars-loving parents

Aria and Arya are 2 different names, as GRRM has made clear. The former has 3 syllables, R-ee-uh. The latter has 2, R-ya.

Arya is a normal name in Sanskrit influenced countries like India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

At least it's better than nonsense word like Khaleesi or Daenaerys.

Because of this post - it got me thinking - there’s probably a list of every babies name born each year.

I found 100 top names - but I was trying to see names where only 1 baby was called it that year.

I wanted to see - as last year my sister called her new baby Gizelda - and I thought that’s a fooking strange name. I’d love to be able to find it on that list and say “look - only you were crazy enough to call your baby that out of everyone in the uk!”

Ahh, sibling rivalry.

It's pretty rare in the U.S., according to this site "From 1880 to 2015 less than 5 people per year have been born with the first name Gizelda":

Nothing wrong with being unique!

It's Zelda with a Gi.
