Terrible news... I'm a big Manchester United football fan... so even though I'm from the US... it hit home some what. I hope they find who's responsible... assuming it's more than a lone suicide bomber... but I also hope it doesn't drive England further into a reactionary xenophobic government.

I didn't know about the anniversary... this will make things even more upsetting and polarizing. Theresa May is an expert on homeland security and I believe England has elections coming soon... it always worries me for the UK, France as well as my own country what's going on when an attack occurs at such a sensitive time.

Yes, today our thoughts should only be with the dead and wounded. I will save discussion of any other sinister plots for a different day.
shareI agree the real problem is radicalization.
But at the risk of going off topic --- "immigration" doesn't just cover the ingress of Muslims, or even of refugees in need of help, and people concerned about immigration are not all "xenophobic" or racist.
There is immigration of ordinary kinds and the UK services, housing and resources in most major cities are overwhelmed with populations inflated by "free movement" simply of ordinary Europeans, above what they might be by the population we already have.
Please don't think in strictly black-and-white rigid thinking. Ever hear the phrase "all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs"?
All racists are probably concerned about immigration, but not all people concerned about immigration are racists. There are two separate groups with two separate reasons to be concerned just about sheer number of people -- regardless of race, creed or color. It's not about that for many people.
Sorry I've gone off topic -- my comments are neither about the bomb attack nor Muslims but I can't stand to see people condemn millions of people as one thing when that's hysterical thinking -- just like when people condemn all Muslims, is it not....?......

shareIt's despicable. It's bad enough to target just anyone, but to target very young people, words fail me.

Okay, let me see, what POS ppl usually murder ppl in cold blood ??? Everyone knows the answer , let me tell you ! That would make me a racist though , POS of ppl fucking shit they are !
shareMy prime minister brings them all to Canada to free load on welfare , rape woman and kids and blow up shit ! Fuck Trudeau !

Yeah, that is messed up!
shareAre all the deaths from the bomb itself or some from the stampede?
shareTerrorists are POS , usually 1 in the same !
shareTerrorists rape women and kids , it's a fact !
shareOf course they are but that wasn't the question.
They are still responsible for the stampede deaths and injuries too since they triggered it. I am just curious how much the actual bomb did vs the panic after.
Not that I was there in person, but witnesses who were in the foyer spoke about looking behind them and seeing "twenty to thirty bodies".
Since we now know that 22 people did die, I think it's safe to assume the deaths actually happened in the immediate area of the explosion, which was the foyer, and I doubt that any stampedes account for many deaths in this particular case. I think the bomb itself got at least the 22 as that's what the dad in the foyer said he saw.
Ok thanks! It sounds like a lot of people were lingering in the foyer waiting to pick up their kids. They are probably the fatalities, and then some of the injured could be from the panic inside. If you get knocked down and everyone tramples you, it's very hard to get up again.
But of course it is all the bombers fault regardless of how they were inured. Sometimes they don't have large bombs but they deliberately try to trigger a stampede to increase the injuries.
Well, from the many deaths in such short time,i think they used nails projectiles to increase damage and range of the bomb.
shareThis is terrible news! My heart goes out to all of those who lost their lives and their families and friends. I don't have any other words to say. Shocked.
shareI wouldn't pin it on anyone just yet. The attacks on Europe are a shame. And you may think you know who is behind them but it would shock you to find out the truth behind some of these attacks. It is a shame, Europe is so gorgeous and unlike America virtually crime free at least very few violent crimes and the way it is bei g violently, systematically attacked makes me very angry!

MFW I initially thought this happened in Manchester, 'Merica.
I just happened to rewatch Manchester by the Sea before it happened.
