Movie Search? .... early 2000s or end 90s....

Hi
I am looking for a movie title. It was a guy, he was somehow having a postcard (don't know why) where a beach was on. He tried to get to that beach, but it was not possible. I remember a subway. And creatures that changed the city and the lifes of the people in the city over night. So when somebody woke up the next morning, he might lead a whole other life as the day before. I am not completely sure if I am not confusing two movies here and kinda fuse 'em together..... well the guy with the post card - at the end of the movie - ends up somehow at the beach. That's all I remember and I really want to see it again. Does that ring a bell to anybody? Thank you for helping me.

You're welcome.

I don't know... The Matrix, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine, The Others, Shutter Island... the problem with telling people to watch films like that it's sometimes a spoiler to tell them that it's that type of film... it's better just to watch films in that category and once in awhile you'll get one. Westworld the TV series is also good for that type of story.

I remembered Dark City and Shell Beach so I thought it might be that one. Sounded like you were fusing it with another one though.

I looked up dark city now and it's definitely it! Wow. Cool. And I am gonna look up the others that you told me, too. So cool. I like that stuff a lot. Never mind about the spoiler thing, I mean I know what I am looking for.... :) I also like the type of films like the thirtheenth floor. Do you know any films similar to this one?

I knew it as soon as he said creatures that changed the city.
This was an easy one compared to the ghostly ship question. I don't know that ship movie at all!

Yeah the Ghost Ship film seems pretty obscure. Dark City was a pretty big film back in the day. Thanks!
