shareThe only thing that made it look like the 1950's was the Fonz's hair and clothes. Other than that, as a kid, I honestly thought it was a contemporary comedy.
shareHmmm, what about the poodle skirts and the '50's cars? But other than that, I guess you're right. Houses looked basically the same from 1950s-1970s. Hairstyles? Mostly the ponytail which is identical in any decade.
shareYes, the girls' clothes should have clued me in. And I think the only cars they showed were in brief intro shots to indicate the next scene was at Al's diner. I guess I was not into cars much as a kid, so did not connect them with the era.

Then there was Fonzie lending a new meme/name-"Jukmping the Shark" (though it'd take another decade, 1980s, for smart guy Jon Hein to come up with it, then into the first major internet decade, 1990s, the site Jump the site, then of course it disappered.

We sometimes saw it live on Tuesdays but I think we caught most of it in reruns. I remember the others too but I'd have to say I liked Happy Days the best.

shareAt the time of Taxi and S&H, I was only allowed to watch up until 9:30. Had to go to bed per mom's rules lol. But by the time To Close and Hart were added, I was allowed a later bedtime. Uhg, Moms!! ::::eye roll:::: ππππ

shareBut then when you become a working adult, you see how that rule applies. Try staying up late, ALOT, before you go to work each day. Not only will a 40 hour week wear and tear you, if you sleep well; I have learned it will totally demolish me, if I do not get a good 8 hours. For any 8 to 4:30 jobs, the best time to go to sleep is by 10 p.m.

shareI had a 2nd shift job and I still went to sleep by 10. It was a 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. shift.
shareNot everyone lives by your rules. I work 2nd shift and am up very later every night. Everyone has different lives.
shareWell, my "technical" rule is to go to sleep by about 5 hours from the time you get back from work. So even if you worked a 2nd shift and were back at like 12, you would then go to sleep at about 4 a.m., wake up at 12 noon and then get ready to go at 3:30 p.m. . Man, I remember doing that. Even though it did not hurt my sleep pattern because I was still able to sleep at 10 p.m., it was sort of hard waiting for 12:30 p.m. to start my job. My part time right now is like 2:30-6:30 p.m.

shareVery sad news. It's sad how her life-situation was in decline, and now this. I read that Henry Winkler at one time tried to help her get back on her feet.
I loved Happy Days when I was a kid.
Henry Winkler, Ron Howard, Marian Ross, etc. all had perspective relative to being a television performer. Howard indicated that Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, etc from The Andy Griffith Show were very helpful in terms of Ron Howard growing into adulthood. Happy Days probably had mentors willing to help Erin but most likely Erin was too caught up in the moment and believed herself to be a bigger celebrity than she was at her peak. If I were the parent of a child actor I would greatly impress the notion that their current gig might be their only gig and to plan accordingly. A little tough love might have been in order by making Erin watch her work on HD and make her realize she was far off from being a Streep level actor.
shareI know next to nothing about Erin or her life and how she lived it, except that she was on Happy Days, and that I learn from the articles about her death that her life was not going well.
I don't know more than that about how she handled fame or being on Happy Days. She may not have been of Streep's talent, but now is not really the time to judge her for any failings in handling fame or such. We're all human and all of us can fail to handle things in the most ideal way. I'm just sad this was how things were for her.
Led a troubled life. I am surprised she managed to land a role on Happy Days in the first place

I'm sure she must have fallen on harder times than being worth 100 grand. She had been living in a trailer park.
She lived to be my age-fifty six! Find happines in heaven...Tom Bosley died a number of hyears ago..he was also Hanna-Barbera's "Wait till your Father gets Home" daddy Harry Boyle (Happy Days debuted in 1973, Wait till Your Father gets Home a year before, in 1972.)
