shareJim mentioned that importing the missing posts is not a problem, but people started responding to existing threads, started new ones, and incorporating all those new posts into old ones is a problem, and that's why it takes longer than expected.
shareFrom a programmatic standpoint, I can understand how that could be tricky. However, if I was going to do it... I'd separate all the new posts from the original archive (sorting by date, I suppose) and put them to the side... get the full archives in place... then throw the new posts on top of that, giving them new IDs and whatnot, if necessary. A few well written scripts can accomplish this. Hell, maybe he IS doing that. Who knows, since ol' Jim doesn't tell us much these days...
My whole point is that it IS do-able.
It's doable, but it will take more time than expected.
shareI would be okay if Jim deleted new discussions if that made it easier. I haven't seen many big new discusssions, anyway, just short little drips here and there.
