It's important that we start posting more on the movie and tv show boards, because the current inactivity will make visitors go back to more active sites. For many the inactivity ist currently the biggest flaw of this site.
Yep, just start typing. There is a million different discussions waiting to be continued around here. Even if the OP and most of the participants in the threads are not here (yet), others will chime in and continue (kinda like it was often on the IMDB-boards).
Was more of a lurker on the old boards, but figured we all have to contribute a bit more here in the beginning to get what we all loved and treasured up and running again.
Agreed. I try to be fairly active here, and there is a discussion group on facebook that I am involved in as well. While I miss IMDb boards, there are substitutions.
--People are active on individual boards here. I keep going into a board expecting it to be dead but end up discovering people have been chatting there for days. We just don't have as many users.--
And I see many empty boards and boards with users who are not writing anything except 'who is here?' and stuff like that.
--P.S. Look at the trending topics and this forum on the main page. If it says "a few seconds ago" then that's activity. If people want more, they have to sign up and join in. --
Yes, and one reasons are people like me who try to get some traffic to the boards. :-)
Exactly! I've been going to the ones I used to frequent most before the dreaded shut down and trying to keep them afloat or to at least show that someone is around. By getting things on the trending section, keeping threads up to date, and replying to people as swiftly as I can I'm hoping it'll attract some more posters.
I think that's the best and most we could be doing right now while jim is working his ass off to continue to improve the site. We gotta try and match his efforts in some way!
I think it's getting there though. The trending section is quite encouraging actually and I think will go a long way in showcasing the activity. I agree with 9, as well, that if you want to see a lively board attempt to create it yourself...which is basically what you're saying a well by encouraging people to post it on up. Lurkers, people not signed up, or waiting, just dive in with us! This will only happen if do it.
I think the future is bright. After IMDB stabbed us all in the back, posters went in all directions.
It will take time to build back up, but I think we can do it.
